Pre-Symposium Courses Thursday April 23, 2009

Maxillary Sinus Grafting with Lateral Window as well as Crestal Approach will be discussed and step-by-step instruction provided for beginners or for those experienced searching to refine the technique, as well as a dialogue to minimize complications and maximize success rates with these procedures. Guidelines will be provided as to what graft to select and why for each situation.

In addition, a hands on workshop portion will allow participants to perform the procedures being discussed during the lecture.

Learn step-by-step techniques to increase bone volume in the posterior maxilla predictably. Instrumentation and fee schedules for maxillary sinus grafts will also be discussed. This program will be conducted with lectures, a handout and a Hands-On workshop on a take home model.

With the growing acceptance and availability of cone beam tomography, clinicians have the opportunity to manage diagnostic information for predictable implant supported prosthetics. The latest technology available to plan implant surgeries for predictable and successful outcomes, as well as step-by-step instruction in the use of the hardware and software involved is examined.

Dr. McEowen will share his clinical experiences using these techniques to determine the treatment plan and then to guide through implant placement and restoration.

Katya Ar chambault, D.M.D.

Renzo Casselini M.D.T .

Rolf Ewers, D.D.S., Ph.D., M.D.Dr. Ewers is Chairman and Head of the University Hospital of Cranio-Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery of the Medical School, University of Vienna, Austria. He was Chairman of the 17th International Conference on Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Vienna, Austria, August 2005. He received the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation Research Recognition Award 2005, and has over 100 scientific publications.

Renzo Casellini is a Master Dental Technologist, trained in Switzerland where his family has been in the dental industry for four generations. He is Instructor of Restorative Dentistry at Loma Linda University and Associate Professor of Implant Prosthodontics at Biodonto Dental School in Brazil. His articles on implants and esthetics have been featured in over 45 professional publications.

The Miami Implant Update - Speakers

Zhimon Jacobson, D.M.D. Professor Zhimon Jacobson maintains a private practice in Boston, MA, and lectures nationally and internationally. He was Director of Postgraduate Prosthodontics at Boston University from 1980 to 1996, and in 1990, he established the university’s Center for Implantology, where he continues to serve as Director. Professor Jacobson is currently also Director of the Division of Continuing Education at Boston University and a Clinical Professor of Prosthodontics in the Department of Restorative Sciences and Biomaterials.

After graduating from the University of Virginia and completing an internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Theodore I. Malinin joined the Public Health Service and was assigned to the National Cancer Institute. For the past thirty-eight years, he has been a professor and researcher at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He has served as Director of University of Miami Tissue Bank for numerous years. Dr. Malinin has published four scientific books, and over two hundred papers in scientific journals.

Theodor e Malinin, M.D.

Dr. Archambault is the founder and owner of a multispeciality group practice in Montreal, Canada. She focuses on the Soft and Hard Tissue Management as well as Implant Surgery in her practice. She has received extensive training in Soft Tissue Management for Dental Implants, has co-authored a book on the subject and developed a systematic method of training dentists on the subject.

Eli Gannon Eli is an internationally recognized expert in the dental technology field. He currently consults, lectures and publishes on 3 Dimensional Digital Computing, In-Office Virtual Impression Taking, Intra Oral Scanners, Image Guided Implantology Treatment Planning and numerous other high technology topics.

James McAnally , D.M.D.

Dr. McAnally has a practice devoted to reconstructive and implant dentistry, based in Seattle, WA. Over the last eleven years he developed external marketing and sales systems. He is the CEO of Big Case Marketing, which provides its member doctors with turn-key advertising and case acceptance training programs for success with implant and reconstructive cases. His email tips are distributed to over 30,000 doctors worldwide. He's a marketing and sales contributor, and his latest book, “The Gloves Off Guide to the Biggest Marketing Secrets in Reconstructive Dentistry” was published last spring.

Rik Sable, D.M.D.

Har old Mer edithHarold admits he loves to entertain. Teaching people, seeing their faces and watching nods of agreement is an amazing feeling. Communication, education and marketing are a huge ingredient in the development and growth of any business. Harold's experiences in dental offices across North America over the past sixteen years have been a key ingredient in the teaching of others. This mini presentation will cover the “dental experience” including visual communication, asking for referrals, and how to introduce implant care into your general office from a marketing perspective.

Richard P. Sable DDS is a graduate of Marquette University School of Dental Medicine, Milwaukee,WI. He currently practices Implant and General Dentistry in Largo, FL. He is founder and managing partner in Precision Dx, a mobile CT Scan company currently servicing the entire state of Florida.

Daniel McEowen, D.D.S.Dr. Mc Eowen has been in private practice in Maryland for 26 years, and has adopted new techniques to keep his practice on the cutting edge. He is co-founder of the Mid Atlantic Laser training center, with a mastership level in the World Clinical Laser Institute. He is a certified laser trainer and currently trains doctors in Erbium class lasers in the Masters of Laser Dentistry program in Hewlitt, New York. For the past five years he has run the 3D Imaging Center in Maryland using the first cone beam technology in the Mid-Atlantic area.

A. Burton Melton, D.D.S.Dr. Melton is a prosthodontist, graduating from Baylor University, College of Dentistry in 1970. He received his diploma in Fixed Prosthodontics in 1972 from the University of Missouri. He is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, and the Southwest Academy of Restorative Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, and a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International.

Sachin Mamidwar , M.D, M.S.

Dr. Mamidwar has developed a novel patented calcium sulfate based nanocomposite bone graft material. He is a Co-Founder and the General Manager of Orthogen, LLC. Dr. Mamidwar has numerous publications and patents in the area of Bone Graft materials.
