Much good was done. Jesus was exalted. People were helped. The gospel was shared. Some came to know Jesus. Others were encouraged. We couldn’t do our part in this mission without the leadership of Corbe Sanders. Thank you, Corbe, for helping us take the gospel to the streets! My leave me begins the end of this week. I can’t put into words how much I appreciate geng to take off the month of July. As you know, me away has always been difficult for me. I didn’t grow up in a family that took vacaons. We just worked all the me. I have con- nued that sorry paern well into adulthood. I’m sure I’ve got some psychological baggage bound up in this behavior. Even though work wears me out, and all the more as I get older, work has always been my comfort zone. Coming from a broken home, my brothers and I have worked since we were about ten years old: mowing lawns, retail, restaurants, wherever we could make a lile money. I have been a notorious Sabbath-breaker all my life, but you won’t let me get away with it. I’ve repented of my workaholic behavior numerous mes. God help me. Through you, God is helping me. Here is how you can pray for me in July: pray that I will get adequate rest; pray that I can spend some decent me with family; pray that I can finish a book I started last July ( The 23 rd Pastor); pray that I can hear God’s voice in some planning for autumn; and pray that I won’t drive Dayna nuts in the process. Just geng away from the daily demands of ministry and preparaons allows me to catch a second wind when August rolls around. It means a lot. Thank you. It also helps to know we have a capable staff and deacon body that can care for you and give excellent leadership while I get some down me. Pray for them too. Guess who’s moving? Dayna and I. Aſter 22 years in the same house, more than 1/3 of our lives, we are moving a mile or so closer in to town. It’s not far and the house is not much more space than what we have already, but it allocates the space in ways that will make it more hospitable when our 13-member family shows up at the same me. It’s hard not to have some aachment to the place you’ve called home for 22 years. In fact, our kids and their families were with us on Father’s Day weekend, and we spent some me talking about our favorite memories from our years in that house. The kids got to give their teenage rooms one more look. They got to swim in the pool with their kids one last me. And now we’re ready to move on. Please say a prayer for us as we make this transion the end of this week. Brent Roberts will be preaching on Sunday. Dr. Rex Horne will be preaching the next four July Sundays. If you’re in town, please be in Connect Group and worship. If you’re out of town, try to aend worship wherever you are. Jesus has a big church out there and it’s a joy to meet various expressions of it. See you in August, John No Meal or Acvies on Wednesday, July 5
