Lompoc celebrates spring. The Lompoc Valley Festival Association will take over Ryon Park the weekend of the 21st through the 23rd for the 30th annual SpringFest. In addition to the food booths and carnival, there will be a car and motorcycle show, cooking competitions and free on-stage entertainment.

If you don’t already have plans for Friday the 21st, consider spending the evening with the Platters, live at the Lompoc Veteran’s Memorial Building. If you are from the

“American Graffiti” generation like me, you’ll recognize many of the Platters’ hits like The Great Pretender, Only You, and Smoke Gets in Your Eyes. The concert and dinner will benefit Lompoc Valley Haven Adult and Senior Daycare Center.

The Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau will be hosting Congressman Salud Carbajal at a luncheon on Thursday, April 20th, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Lompoc. Congressman Carbajal, who represents the 24th Congressional District of California, will be presenting an overview of the American Health Care Act, as well as giving a district update. Sign up now through the Chamber website to reserve a seat for the informative event.

The Chamber mixer this month will be at The Lompoc Valley Medical Center on Thursday, April 13th, as they recognize the compassion and commitment of their volunteers.

In addition to the many Holy Week observations sponsored by religious organizations that are Chamber members, the Lompoc Ministerial Association is hosting an Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday the 16th at 6 am. Bring a chair and join those of many faith traditions in front of the historic La Purisima Mission monastery.

Happy April, Lompoc!

Local Military Discounts

The Lompoc Valley Chamber supports the efforts of all of our troops, and in particular, those stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base. We are proud to have compiled a list of over 50 local businesses that offer discounts for military personnel and we hope this list is useful to service members and their families.

The list is available on our website at www.lompoc.com/militarydiscounts.pdf and hard copies are avail-able at the Chamber office.

If you are a Chamber member and your business is not listed or your information needs to be updated, please let us know! Email us at [email protected] or give us a call at 805-736-4567 and we will update our list right away. Thank you for your support!

Old Town Market

Lompoc’s Old Town Market is a street fair, occurring on Friday nights June 30 - August 18 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, in the 100 block of South H Street. Note the change in time - we’ve added an hour to the event! The Old Town Market features live entertainment, food, merchandise and information booths and ac-tivities for the entire family. A free bounce house and activities for kids are also included on each Friday. Each week has a different theme, making each one a different adventure!

Vendor applications are now available online at lom-poc.com and in the Chamber office. Vendors are en-couraged to sign up and prepay for all nights they wish to attend at the beginning of the season to se-cure a spot. Spaces go fast! Contact the Chamber with any questions: 805-736-4567.

Shop Lompoc Shop Small Business Week is sched-uled for April 30th through May 6th this year. Instead of celebrating our locally owned small businesses for a single day in May we decided it would be more fun to celebrate all week! This week is also National Small Business Week recognized by the US Small Business Administration.

From April 30th to May 6th we will be coordinating and promoting Shop Lompoc Small Business Week in a for-mat similar to Restaurant Week. We are very excited about this change as it will provide opportunities for ad-ditional businesses to participate as well as additional time for the community to visit more businesses than they may be able to in a single day event.

Several locally owned businesses that have partici-pated in past SLSS events have found them to be an effective marketing tool for increased exposure, sales and/or return customers not to mention the fun it can be. We have also heard from the community how much they enjoy the SLSS events, discovering ‘new’ busi-nesses, rediscovering businesses they thought had closed (or they had forgotten about), playing games or participating in other activities at the businesses.

There are nearly twenty participating businesses and you can view their special offers at lompoc.com. You will find discounts, gifts with purchases and giveaways.

This event is proudly brought to you by the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau and Shop Lompoc, Shop Small. Thank you for supporting local businesses!
