HOW TO USE THE IXTHYS LETTER

1. Check the IXTHYS Market Direction Indicator™ (MDI) and Market Commentary sections so you

know what kind of market we are currently in. Any change in the MDI signal between monthly

updates will be emailed to subscribers.

2. Read the instructions given with The IXTHYS Portfolio™ which are based on the current MDI

signal. Adjust your current holdings accordingly. If you are new to The IXTHYS Letter, consider

buying one or more of the holdings in The IXTHYS Letter as directed (those with a “Buy” rating).

Consider adding to any IXTHYS Portfolio companies you already own that have a “buy” rating and

selling any that have a “Sell” rating. Note that we hold up to 18 positions in The IXTHYS

Portfolio™, depending on market conditions, so determine your position size on this basis.

3. If the IXTHYS MDI™ signals that we are in a bear market, consider reducing your positions in The

Business Profile: Founded in San Francisco in 2007, New Relic (NYSE: NEWR) is a provider of cloud-based data

analytics software solutions for mid- to large-sized companies. Through the New Relic platform, the company offers six

products ranging from mobile and app analytics to problem simulation, browser performance, and infrastructure analysis.

Solutions are delivered to the end user via alerts, plugins, data surveillance (New Relic Security Team), and platforms that

display machine learning AI analytics (New Relic Applied Intelligence). Major clients include Major League Baseball,

Ryanair, REI, Conde Nast, Hearst, and Epic Games (developers of the smash-hit, Fortnite).

Fundamental Analysis: Earnings per share grew an average of 30% over the past four quarters and is projected to

accelerate to 67% over the next fiscal year (remember, accelerated growth is one of our key requirements in the 5-point

Tech Stock Selection System). The company has grown sales 64% each year over the past five years, including a 35% jump

this past quarter. The company has a very strong cash position, respectable levels of free cash flow ($41.5 million),

manageable debt (with a current ratio of only 3.8), and funds have increased positions in the past three months. Over the

past 15 quarters, as the chart below shows (see green arrows), the company has only once failed to beat estimates and

notch up their forward guidance. Currently only 5% of enterprise clients use data analytics software. This is projected to

grow to 20% by end of 2020. New Relic is a leader in industry and should be able to grab a large part of this new market.

Technical Analysis: As the weekly chart of shares of NEWR below shows, the company’s stock has been in a slow and

steady uptrend, punctuated by periods of consolidation and earnings-related breakouts. The current price has been in a

consolidation box now for over 12 weeks and appears to be gearing up for another new leg higher. This gives us an

opportune time – the fifth of my 5-point selection process -- to begin a new core portfolio holding in this cloud computing

play.
