The hist or y and t r adit ion of Snowf lake Palace Snowflake Palace is a tradition at Goldwood Primary School. Generations of young children have experienced the wonder and joy of seeing the transformation of the Goldwood Room into a winter wonderland. In the fall of 1982, four elementary schools were combined to create two schools: Goldwood Primary School and Kensington Intermediate. Around this time the PTA began a ?craft fair? called Klaus?s Cupboard. Mothers would meet together throughout the fall to create homemade items to be sold at the school event. Around 1992 (exact date is unknown), the Goldwood students voted on renaming Klaus?s Cupboard. They had three options, and the name Snowflake Palace won! Not only did the name change, but so did the decorations and the items sold. No longer were mothers making the gifts, but store items were purchased for the students to buy. Students eagerly saved money to purchase gifts for their families. This tradition is still enjoyed today. The PTA works all year long to ensure that the students will have a joyful experience at the Snowflake Palace. New decorations are being created for a ?fresh? experience.Quality items are purchased and then sold at cost to the children for their gift giving. *This is not a fundraiser for the PTA or the school. It is a service provided for the students to enjoy the independence of shopping for their families. It is also a time for parents to volunteer and be a part of the Snowflake Palace. pixabay.com
