From the Vicar’s Desk

Dear Parish Family:

HAPPY NEW YEAR! We have now entered into 2015. I give thanks and praise to

our Savior Jesus for blessing us with a new year! The year 2014 was tough for

many of us; a couple of people lost their jobs; others were hospitalized; others

mourned the loss of their loved ones; others were relocated, on so on. Many unfor-

tunate events, as well as many blessings, took place in our lives in 2014. I know

that for me, it was a hard year: my sister Alana gave up her life after years of bat-

tling cancer; my cousin Donella died unexpectedly as a result of a car accident

which had taken place several months before; my aunt Dorothy also died unex-

pectedly; and my uncle Antoine passed away in November. The year 2014 truly

tested my faith and my strength. However, in the midst of it all, God’s love was

there to encourage my family and me, as He encouraged many of you during your

trials and tribulations.

We now look with expectation to the experiences of 2015, understanding by faith

that this New Year brings lots of God’s blessings. This we know because of God’s

promises in Isaiah 43:19, “I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do

you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

God also promises in Jeremiah 29:11, “For surely I know the plans I have for you,

says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with

hope.”

This year Holy Faith has planned lots of exciting events for 2015: the reenactment

of the Magi on January 4th bringing the gifts to the Lord; the Three Kings’ party for

children of all ages on Sunday, January 11th after the 12:00 noon service; our annu-

al meeting on Sunday, January 18th at 9:30 a.m.; Black History Month February

15th; Mardi Gras Tuesday February 17th at 6pm; Bishop Gregory Brewer’s visita-

tion on Sunday, February 22nd; Women's International Day, Sunday, March 8; an

uplifting Spiritual Holy Week and Easter Sunday Festival; April 24th, a Fish Fry;

Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, May 3rd; Spring Barbeque, May 15; Graduation Sunday

on Sunday, June 7th; Caribbean Day on Sunday, August 2nd; International Extrava-

ganza, Sept 5; Ministry Recognition Sunday, September 13th; Hispanic Heritage

Month, Sunday, September 20th; and for the first time our Acolytes will participate

in the Diocesan Acolyte Festival in Orlando and will attend the Acolyte National

Festival at the National Cathedral in Washington DC, these and many other

events are scheduled for this year. Please mark your calendar and make an effort

to support these activities for the Glory of God.

The year 2015 is the year our Lord Jesus will enable Holy Faith to shine and

grow, numerically and spiritually! This is the year you and I will receive spiritual

and financial blessings from above, and this is the year Holy Faith will begin its

journey toward a multicultural, multi-language, and multiracial Christian Com-

munity in the City of Port St. Lucie and in the Diocese of Central Florida!

Del Escritorio del Vicario

Querida Familia Parroquial:

¡FELIZ AÑO NUEVO! Ahora hemos entrado en 2015. ¡Doy gracias y alabanza a nuestro Salvador

PASTORAL CARE MINISTRY The Prayer of Faith

God is my help in every need;

God does my every hunger feed;

God walks beside me, guides my way

Through every moment of the day.

I now am wise, I now am true,

Patient, kind, and loving too.

All things I am, can do , and be

Through Christ, the Truth that is in me.

God is my health, I can't be sick;

God is my strength, unfailing quick;

God is my all; I know no fear,

Since God and love and Truth are here. ..

HOLY HUMOR

The minister was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation to come up with more money than they were expect-ing for repairs to the church building. Therefore, he was annoyed to find that the regular organist was sick and a substitute had been brought in at the last minute..

The substitute wanted to know what to play. "Here's a copy of the service," he said impatiently. "But, you'll have to think of something to play af-ter I make the announcement about the finances." During the service, the minister paused and said, "Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we ex-pected and we need $4,000 more.

Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up." At that moment, the substitute organist played "The NATIONAL ANTHEM."

And that is how the substitute became the regular organist!

Post Christmas Report

The Gifts of Christmas are many.

We were reminded of the shepherds, Mary and

Joseph, the angels, the Christ child, the joy, mu-

sic, loving preparations.

I hope that you were all able to embellish some

part or every aspect of this great celebration.

What a delightful experience! We are truly

blessed!

Now we move along into a New Year; New

hopes, new joys and challenges. Let us embrace

these uncertainties, trusting in the Lord who is

our sustenance.

May our joys be to continue to show love and

good will to all around us, so long as He ena-

bles us these to perfect.

I express joyful thanks for all your efforts!

Great are the gifts of Christmas!

“Glory to God in the Highest, and on earth

peace, good will toward men.

For Gratitude Bless the Lord O my soul And forget not all his benefits.

Open our eyes, Lord, that we may see all that you give so abundantly, and teach us to be grateful; for the things we hold closest to our heart, for the things that all share in common, for the smallest of pleasures, and for the great hope of heaven. In all that you have given us, let us see your hand and let our delight in your gift become and unending pray-er of thanksgiving and an ever growing habit of generosity towards others. For the sake of him who loves us and gave himself for us, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Ed.) Taken from Day by Day
