Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. The Surah begins with الحروف املقطعات, Broken Letters. Only Allah knows the meanings of these letters. The Qura'an consists of Arabic letters, known well by the Quraysh, but none could bring anything remotely similar to the Qura'an. Most of the time, after the Broken Letters, Allah mentions the Qura'an, exalting His Book.

Allah elevates His words by using the word تلك. The ayaat are signs which lead you to a goal, ال إله إال اهلل. The ayaat of the Qura'an show the best meaning and the best result.

The ayaat are compiled into a book, and it is also recited. So the Qura'an is also a kitab, a compiled book, which we can hold in our hands. It is further described as مبني, clear, visible, apparent. Nothing can be clearer than the Qura'an in its clarity of facts and information.

The Qura'an is both written and recited. The believer listens to it, and it is clear for him, while the disbeliever needs a tangible book to see. The Qura'an is so clear, it comes to your heart like a picture. Allah makes you understand the Qura'an. We must receive the Qura'an with happiness and acceptance, and submit and surrender to it.

Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims. Though the Qura'an is so clear, there are still disbelievers. The Muslim surrenders without arguing any objections, while the disbeliever will not submit, he will cover the clarity of the truth. What a regret will be have, at the time of death, in the grave, on the Day of Judgement, and in the hellfire. They will wish that they were submitted when they see the result.

When you see the truth, don't delay your repentance. Islam is very clear, it is the deen which Allah has chosen for us, so don't delay your submission, or it may become a regret for you. When the disbeliever sees the angels of the hellfire at the time of death, the truth will come to their minds, and they will regret their rejection of the truth.

In the hellfire, there will be muslimeen also, the sinners. When the disbelievers will see them, they will mock them, asking them what prevented them from entering Jannah, what did they gain by their worship. So Allah will be angry for the muslimeen, against the disbelievers, and will take the muslimeen out of the hellfire. At this moment, the disbelievers will wish intensely that they were from among them.

The word ربما shows that their wish was not intense, or the would have submitted. So they are cheating, they only had a tiny percentage of the wish on the Day of Judgement. If a person wants to change, he will. Allah knows the hearts of the people. If there is any good in the hearts, and they really wish what they claim, Allah would have given them opportunities to change. They were deceived in dunya, and now the time is over.
