About the Five PreceptsThe Five Precepts constitute the basic code of ethics undertaken
by upāsaka and upāsikā ("lay followers") of Buddhism. (Wikipedia)
The precepts are not rules or commandments, they are simply codes of conduct Buddhists take to observe. Buddhists know that breaking these codes of conduct is a downfall to themselves as well as others.
The five precepts is a foundation of morality and is practiced by Buddhists in a daily basis.
