    YOUR SPONSORSHIP DOLLARS AT WORK

The goal of Emmaus House is to restore hope to the youth of Haiti by teaching them to be dependent on God and tobecome self-supporting young adults. Until those goals are achieved, the youth of Emmaus House need a continuedsupport system to help them on their journey through this transitional time in their lives. The challenges facing themliving independently in Haiti can seem monumental at times. In the world of Haiti, they face extreme poverty, unem-ployment, lack of family support, and the list goes on. However, by focusing on one individual at Emmaus Housethrough the sponsorship program you can help change the life of one.Your sponsorship will support an individu

al with specific basic needs such as education, food, and medical care as they work toward independ-ence through the program.

To meet the sponsorship needs of one of the Emmaus youth it only takes $250 per month. Currently, less than

half of our youth have their sponsorship needs met. By having kind-hearted contributors this helps bring down our

    monthly expenses at Emmaus House.

Sponsorship is a valuable tool for our youth, however, as you might guess, Emmaus House also provides housing, ut

ties, fuel, directors and mentors to provide guidance, etc. required to provide a safe, comfortable living environ-

ment. Currently we are also seeking ongoing support to meet those needs so we can keep the individual youth spon

ship levels at a reasonable level. Please help us reach out to individual donors and/or take this cause to your congre

tion so this important work can continue.

Andy (pronounced on-zee) was never one that I took the chanceto get to know. Quiet, reserved, he was never one that stood out.I mostly saw him when he went to play soccer, where he thrives.(His soccer coach says that Andy could someday play professional soc-cer if he had the opportunity. Hes that good!) Then we moved to

Emmaus House, and although he is still his introverted self, Andy isshining brightly more than ever before.

A few months ago Andy sat down with Gerome, our Haitian admin-istrator, to update his six-month goals. Gerome asked him what heloves the most about Emmaus House. I like it here because I amfinally learning what it looks like to be a part of a family, he re-plied. Abandoned at birth, Andy has never had the opportunity for afamily in his 21 years.

This is key in Andys development over the past 10 months. Household

chores, cooking with Vivian, assisting Jonathan with devotionals, livingin an actual home and being supported, by parents have all helpedteach Andy about what a real family looks likes here in Haiti.

Among marked improvement in Andy is his work ethic. Andy is the first one to complete his chores. I see him as-sisting in the kitchen. If hes not cooking, he is offering to help carry the heavy pots for those who are. He showinterest in leading devotionals. After failing school two years in a row, he is making some of the highest grades ofour young adults! Also, he has scored more 4s on his weekly Behavior Level System than anyone, meaning he haearned the highest allowance and privileges in the house.

Andy is proof that God is working through Emmaus House. God is raising up these young adults to repair what was

once broken and to train them to be young men and women after His own heart. Andy is an example to all ouryoung adults and has developed a character they all measure themselves by. I can t begin to count the number oftimes I have heard the others say, Did I score as high as Andy on my levels? or Is Andy already working? Iguess I need to work too. His fellow brothers and sisters at Emmaus House see how he has changed and theywant to follow in his footsteps.

We are so thankful for your donations which have helped Andy at Emmaus House. And it is a privilege to be apart of his young adulthood-a time where God is molding him and preparing him for his future. We ask that youall join us in prayer for Andy:

    1. Please pray that he continues is his growth and learning what it means to be a part of a family.

    2. Andy still needs $75 a month in order to have all his sponsorship needs met.

    3. And most importantly,: Andy has not yet obeyed the Gospel. He is searching, studying with Jonathan, andreading his Bible more than ever. God is pursuing him and it is evident. So lets join together in prayer that Andywill choose a life with Christ.

Andy is sll in need of paral sponsorship at Emmaus House. If you are interested in becoming one of his sponsors, please contacJillian Kirell for more informaon at [email protected]
