Students were charted throughout the year in Ms. Appelt's P.E. classes. The two fastest boys and two fast- estgirls in each room represented their Winners in the first grade relay were, from left, Kelly Baker, Pete Mar- tinez, Brianca Mendoza, and Marquis Toliver. Along with the students is their teacher, Mrs. Kibort, their class trophy and individual ribbons. Second grade relay winners, were, from right, Rogelio Montiel, Jocelyn Stovall, Esmeralda Sotello and Anthony Banks. By Roxanne Jessie Matthews joined our staff at Rice Medical Center as a Nurse's Aide in April of 1960. She attended college to further her career in the medical field and gradu- ated as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in 1969. Presently, as a Surgical Services Scrub Nurse, she has dedicated herself to this hospital for more than 38 years. Throughout the years of her dedi- cated service, Jessie has been awarded many service award pins and, on her 35th anniversary, was awarded her very own parking place even though she claims someone beats her to it. She has also seen many changes andgivesherselfcreditforthe training of the surgical services personnel. Just recently, Jessie announced that she will be retiring in Nov. She has always taken pride in her workandherselfandwewill miss her. In Jessie's spare time, she enjoys watching soap operas that she records while she works. Shopping is a favor- ite and she also loves to travel with her husband, Lewis. While traveling, two of her favor- M. Walker ite places have been the San Antonio River Walk and Las Vegas, where she lets her hair down and enjoys the wild side of life. Jessie also enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews. She is an active member in her church and loves singing in the choir. (Mickey) Kochwelp of this city... Miss Charlyne Frances Gold became the bride of William DeWa- yne Berry of Austin in a pretty cere- mony at St. Mary' s Catholic Church in Nada Saturday, May 26, at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon. June 9, 1950 June 14 is the date for boosters of the band to note. On this evening, a meeting will be held to form a band boosters' organization... Chesterville will share the spot- light tomorrow morning when the Dodd twins, Fay and Gaye, make a guest appearance on the Eagle Lake Radio Hour which will be broadcast from the stage of the Cole Theatre, 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Mrs. Clara May Nash will accompany them on the piano... The weather men must be mixed up. So far in the month of June, six and class in the end of school relay. An alternate was also chosen.
