Dear Friends, Welcome to the Wizard of Paws - our annual fall gala! We truly thank you for attending and for supporting the animals DRHS cares for. We have a variety of ways to support us so try the wine pull, purchase a mystery bag, bid on an adventure on the silent auction, buy a trip on the live auction and you can just make a gift during the "raise your paw" portion of the live auction with Jason. Don't forget to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win the stunning

emerald and diamond necklace and earrings donated by Doland Jewelers. Just like the shelter inventory - there is something for everyone! While we are very excited about our upcoming capital campaign - the proceeds from tonight provide care for the animals at the shelter. We have taken in 3,332 animals so far this year with August 29 being our busiest day. Driving into the parking lot we were greeted by 3 birds in cages, 11 kittens in boxes and two loose puppies scampering about - 16 animals and we weren't even open yet. Throughout the day we took in 25 more animals including a turtle and a rabbit for a total of a 41 animals! The next four months will prove to be exceedingly busy months with lots of animals coming in and hopefully many finding loving homes. The DRHS is an open admission shelter, that means we take in every animal that comes through our doors. We care for them, evaluate them, vaccinate them, spay or neuter them and put them up for adoption. All of these services

cost money, so we appreciate your donations tonight - you are helping save the lives of many of our animals. The DRHS serves as a shelter for homeless and unwanted animals, a rescue operation, a placement agency, an educa-tional and advocacy organization and a pet care resource center. We cater to people as well as animals and provide an essential service for our community. The DRHS teaches children, entertains the elderly, provides caring services for animals, promotes training of animals and their owners, and finds homes for thousands of animals each year. The adoption of over 2,500 animals a year generates over $3 million of revenue for our community. Again thank you so much for coming tonight and show-ing your love for the animals by your donations. It is appre-ciated by both your four legged and two legged friends at the DRHS!
