BENEDICTION POSTLUDE “Take the Name of Jesus with You” Doane LUKE 6:20-26 (NIV)

“Looking at his disciples, he said: ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets. But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.’”

CONGREGATION PLEASE STAND (AS YOU ARE ABLE)

Compassionate God, we recognize that our world is a broken place. We admit that sometimes we make the world a broken place. Strengthen us through the power of the Holy Spirit to hear you and move forward in faith.

Announcements for February 10, 2019

PUERTO RICO

Please be in prayer for those from the mission team serving in Puerto Rico.

2019 ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting for the church will be on Sunday, February 24, at 11:45 a.m. in Souers Hall. We are installing new deacons, and voting on new officers and the budget. The meeting is open to everyone, but only church members may vote. Please mark your calendar to attend this meeting. Your attendance is important in the planning for the future of our church, and a quorum of the congregation is needed. Child care will be provided in the Rec Room and Nursery during the meeting. The 2018 Annual Report is available from an usher or during the week from the church office.

HAVE YOU MADE YOUR PLEDGE?

Our 2019 Pledge Campaign has almost reached our goal of the number of pledges received. Through this week, we have received pledges from 192 church families. In past years, we have had at least 200 pledges and would like to reach a goal of 210 family units making pledges. As you have heard from previous announcements, your planned giving has been very successful to date, yet we would like to encourage more church families to make a commitment to support our church in 2019. Thanks for your continued support!

CONFIRMATION CLASSES

Confirmation is the process where youth in 8th grade (13 years or older) learn about the Christian faith and make an intentional commitment to give their lives to the Lord. Following confirmation, youth are received into membership into the church. Confirmation will also include baptism for those who have not previously been baptized. An orientation meeting for both youth and parents will be held Wednesday, February 20, at 6:00 p.m. in Zieske Hall. Confirmation classes will meet on Wednesdays, February 20, 27, March 20, 27, April 3 and 10 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. The confirmation ceremony will occur on Palm Sunday, April 14. You may register in Souers Hall between services. If you have questions or you would like more information, please contact the church office or Pastor Kerri.

BIBLE STUDY

The Bible study focusing on the letters written to the seven churches in Asia Minor recorded in Revelation 2-3 continues this Tuesday, February 19, at 10:00 a.m. and Wednesday, February 20 at 6:30 p.m. in Souers Hall. Our focus this week will be on the letter written to the church in Philadelphia. Please read Revelation 3:7-13 prior to our time together if possible. As always, please bring a Bible and something to write with if you are able to.

Please join us for a special study on Tuesday, March 5, at 10:00 a.m. in Souers Hall. Curtis Cook is leading a study focusing on the language and culture of the Zuni people, and about Bible translation as means of reaching them for God.
