Report of Disciples Food Pantry for June 2016 The Disciples Food Pantry continues to improve each week we operate, including moving it during Vacation Bible School. “Thank you!” to all the volunteers that helped during this month and especially those that worked during the extremely successful VBS.

During the five Wednesdays in June, the pantry served 379 families, or 1,586 people, for an average of 317 each week. Of the total served, 261 individuals were new. Fifty-one percent (818 people) who received food were 18 years or younger; thirty-eight percent (626) were ages 19 through 59; and eleven percent (159) were sixty or older.

Clients had choices of apples, cucumbers, plums, tomatoes, squash, desserts, bread, frozen meats and orange juice, plus fresh milk and other dairy in addition to dry commodities, canned goods, and miscellaneous items.

Total food cost from the West Texas Food Bank was $2,563.74 for 4,475 pounds. We continue to rejoice that resources for this ministry are available. Pounds of food donated from other sources were 809, including donations from VBS.

As summer continues, please consider volunteering on Tuesday and/or Wednesday to give our regulars time for vacations.

????? DID YOU KNOW ????? Since the food pantry moved in March, the West Texas Food Bank has delivered 50,254 pounds of groceries with a cost of $6,789 or 14¢ per pound. In 2015 the Food Pantry bought 167,708 pounds of food from the West Texas Food Bank with a cost of $23,194.90 or 7¢ per pound.

The pantry year ended June 30, 2016. During the last three months, the Disciples Food Pantry has served 1,238 families, or 5,254 individuals. These figures are similar to historical records for the last few years, as is the amount of food necessary for operations. Please continue to pray for and donate to this most worthy local mission of First Christian.

Prayer list names are renewed every three weeks as we seek to

keep the list as current as possible and allow space for new requests. Our joys, concerns and

deepest needs are already on God’s heart long before we put

    them to paper.
