The Choir of Christ Church St Laurence Sacred Music Calendar

Photograph: Keith Saunders The Choir of Christ Church St Laurence e Choir is one of the oldest continuing choral groups in Australia and was founded shortly aſter the consecration of the church in 1845. It performs an extensive repertoire spanning over a thousand years, incorporating music from Gregorian chant of the 10th century through to the works of 21 st century composers, with a special emphasis on performing music from the polyphonic schools of the 16 th & 17 th centuries. e Choir sings every Sunday at the 10.30am High Mass and again at the 6.30pm Evensong which uses the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Special music is also provided for all major festivals and feasts throughout the church’s calendar. Apart from this commitment to liturgical worship the Choir regularly gives concerts, is frequently heard on national radio and has made a number of recordings. Entry to the Choir is by audition and any enquiries regarding membership should be forwarded to the Director of Music.
