Chapter 0The College Years

Welcome to my first attempt at the apocalypse challenge. Well, at least my first time publishing one, and my first time using Borg rules.

I have all the expansion packs, and a couple stuff packs including Mansion and Gardens.

I've never finished an apocalypse before, and I have a lot of trouble with cheating. I'm going to try to not cheat, really I am.

And if I do cheat I will make up for it somehow.

Ok. lets get started Desert neighborhood, Custom townies and a custom university are now set up.I have default face replacements, default skins and eyes installed in my game.

Bon Voyage is still set to default, it’s too much trouble, and I never marry any of them anyways.

Here is my custom college, I took the lots from Sim State and put them here, later when the apocalypse is in effect I will replace the lots with apocalypse ready lots.

I used Simcity 4 to remove all the trees from this terrain, which is Aridia by the way.

I copied the design for this dorm from one of the maxis made dorms; I expanded and added to it. Each room is exactly the same, bed, desk, and dresser.

"Looks kinda barren and dry around here."That's because I decided to reuse this college later.

"What kind of challenge is this anyways?"An Apocalypse

"What!!! Are you crazy, You never finish your Apocalypse's, You always get overwhelmed and abandon them."

I know, but I'm really going to try to finish this one. I'm even going to post the story to the exchange."Hrump, We'll see."

Dante Calypso is a knowledge sim with the LTW of Maxing all his Skills. His stats are 8/5/7/0/5You can't see it, but Dante has elf ears beneath his hair. I really want to keep the ears in the family.

"I like this room, It has the best bed."Your welcome, but all the rooms are exactly the same, to be fair.

"Should I lock my door?"Yes, you don't want some random dormie sleeping in your bed.

"Am I going to be a Doctor or a Chef? What's your strategy?"Sign up for Biology for now, but if you can't find a Chef I may have you switch later.

"OK, now can I do my term paper."What, No. You don't have time now, nor do you have the skills required to make it worth your while.

"So, what am I doing now?"Head downtown and make some friends, you can start looking for a possible mate.

"Nice place, I like the DJ booth, but I'll never have time to fish and garden."I know but, I really just reused this lot from my Legacy neighborhood.

I'll make you a smaller one later."So what do you want me to do now?"Start dancing, I'll tell you when to stop.

"Hey!, This is fun. Look we're all in sync."

I thought you were dancing."I got hungry, and someone made burgers, I couldn't resist free food."

He fly’s through the air with the greatest of ease.

"Wow! That was great. How'd you do that?""I just danced a lot, and suddenly I knew how."

"Hey, Shannon. What do you do, anyways?""Well, Um, I'm a starter. But I'm working my way up."That's too bad, Only level 4 Athletics. Keep looking.

"Thanks for the great time anyways. We can still be friends can't we?""Of course, it’s not like we've done anything romantic anyways.

"What's with the jackets? Is there some dress code I'm not aware of?"No, they're just in the Secret Society.

"There's a Secret Society?"Yes, now Shhhh, It's supposed to be a secret.

"OK" Goes back to studying.Wait, aren't you interested? Don't you want to join?

"No, not really. But I have a feeling that I will be anyways."

"Yes, but remember, my want mainly revolve around skilling. So lets not stay too long."Well, I had planned on letting you have some outings. Sometimes you get free skill points from going on

I don't really know. Ready to go."Yeah, Let's go!"

"Wow, this is fun, and it feels good too."It's really nice of you to roll up the same easy want over and over and over.

"I feel like I could do anything right now."Ack, Walls down. Oh no, I was trying to avoid any pictures with the walls down.

"Um, How did I get in, I thought I had to make friends first."You did, I just forgot to take pictures. I'm still getting used to taking pictures.

"But how will they know I got in."I think the chicken in the jacket says it all.

Talk about rude, It a wonder anyone joins."It's not like we give them a choice."

"Is that all, Why did I have to join anyways? What's in it for me?"Well, we now have the option of moving into a prebuilt safehouse after you graduate.

Because there too small. And with the building restrictions in place we wouldn't have enough room."So, what was the real reason you had me join the Secret Society?"

"Well, at least they have some neat toys over here.Let see, What shall I lie about. Oh, I know. I'm a legacy sim."

"Why?"Because, no one is leaving and no new people are coming, my game sucks like that.

Keep her in mind. Now ask her to leave the outing, that way she'll leave the lot and someone new might show up.

Kisses, What?!!! Noooooo, Not the dreaded Romance Sim."Awww, calm down, I didn't get a memory from it, and I still have the option to have my first kiss."

I'm upset that I didn't get a picture of it.

Hmm, Blame it all on me will you. Well, you can just handle her yourself. I have to go. You'll be ok for a minute or two, won't you?

"Yeah, sure, go. I'll be just fine."(I'm not sure if I just forgot to pause or what.)

"That was my last one. Wow, what a buzz."I'm sure you'll get used to it.

"Boy, You're one hot Mama."She is pretty, and she would come with a diploma.

"So what's the problem?"Dormies suck at skills.

"Couldn't you make her skill?"

"I really like her. Do what you have to do, but she's the one I'm marrying.

"Will you marry me, Essie. And help me restore life to Calypso""Yes, yes, yes."

"The pictures are beautiful, Dante. Don't you want them?""You keep them for us; you can bring them to us when you move in with me.

I feel guilty now, I broke the rules moving Essie in, skilling her, then making her a dormie again. I have to fix this.

Ok, I have it. I'll add a Major handicap, Bloodties. Which means that Essie and all spouses will not be lifting restrictions, I will also remove all the skills that she gained. There now I don't feel so guilty.

With that fixed I realized that I would have only one lift in generation one and I would rather have my sims able to eat than clean. So I had Dante change his major to Art so he could lift culinary.

"Why am I sewing?"Because I can't stand the awful clothes you and your family will end up with.

"I thought this would be against the rules."You will be able to use it because of the fashion designer advantage.

Dante gratuated top of his class, Summa Cum Lauda. With a 4.0 GPA.Why don't you head inside and get ready to go.

"Hey, Have you heard the news. All the power plants blew up.""Really, How'd that happen."

"Well, why you were at your finals, the Sim bowl was going on. I heard that at half time, everybody rushed to the bathrooms. Then Flush, no water pressure, the power plants overheat, and BOOM!"

"It doesn't seen that bad here.""You just wait, it will be real bad, that's why we need your help."

"With what?""I don't have time to explain, head on over to our Society house, someone will meet you there."

"Ok."

"Hey, Kent said you needed my help?""Yeah, thanks for coming so quickly."

"So, How can I help?""I heard you are really good at building and we need you to help tear down our Society house and

rebuild us a safehouse that can withstand the nuclear winter that is coming.""I've never really built anything, but I'll try."

"We have a set of plans and the 'Apocalypse Rules and Guidelines'""Ok, then, Lets get started."

"There, All done. It's not much but it’s the best I could do, what with all the restrictions.""It's Ok, We'll just have to learn to deal with it."

"Hey, can I keep this book.""No, we need it, but your Creator can help you create you own copy."

"Really"Yes, I have all the rules printed, as well as some other resources I like to use.

"Ok."Come on, lets go back to the dorm before we leave, you want to say goodbye to Essie before you go,

don't you."Yes."

"You're leaving; I'm going to miss you.""I'll miss you too, but I'll call every Tuesday."

"Yes, I'd like to move back to Calypso."...

"Yes, I know it's dangerous, but I've got to do something to help."...

"A taxi will be here soon, Ok, bye."

"This looks almost the same as what I was just wearing."Your Taxi is here, you better go. Be safe, I'll see you on the other side.

I am playing with 3 minor Advantages.Big Backpack - May bring home 5 Items from college.

Fashion Designer - May have one sewing machine, and use it freely.Handyman - May build 2 floors above allowed limits.

3 Minor HandicapsJealous God - May not have Jumbok until I lift Oceanography

Primitive Journalism - You may only choose the first job in the paper and/or the computer, college educated Sims may choose the first or second job in the paper, or one of the first three in the computer.

Stiff Joints - May not do Yoga until athletics is lifted.

Handicapped Restrictions may not be lifted until 3 or more restrictions are lifted.

Major HandicapsBlood Ties - Only the founder and sims directly related to the founder may lift restrictions.

I have a couple more restrictions that I made up myself.

I use some mods and custom items that I can't bear to be without, so I have adjusted for them.I use a mod that stops relationship decay, and the a manuscript to write novels instead of a computer. So,

I decided to turn the phone off at all times, I will still be able to use it on tuesday like usual but no one will be able to call in, including the call to get the money from novels, so I will not get paid for my

novels, lets just say the all the publishers are crooks.

The phone will stay off until both Gamer and Journalism is lifted, after gamer is lifted I will be able to use the phone but no one will be able to call me.
