It’s with sad news that I start my presidents report with the Passing of Life Member and Past

President Ian Home, Ian received his life membership in the LCCA days. Ian was a regular

competitor in the LCCA BP Rally’s. Ian was a successful business man marrying into the

Richie family (Richie Supermarket), Ian took the business from a single supermarket into a

chain of supermarkets, after that he went on to start Yellowglen Winery a high flyer

champagne-style whites. In the later years his passion for wine making continued in Red Hills

Mornington Peninsula on a small vine yard. On behalf of the committee and members I would

like to offer our condolences to the family at this time of mourning.

A while ago I set up a survey for members. The survey was placed on the website and also

emailed out to members, with non tech members having the opportunity to fill one out at the

last club night. Out of a membership base of just over 300, I have so far had a return of about

70. Remember this is all our club and your input is important for the future of the BLCC. I will

keep the survey opened for a bit longer to hopefully capture more data.

On the 7th of May we seen the running of the 2016 Daryl Tunbridge Trail and R4S (Rally for

Steve Richards) Novice Trial in the Amphitheatre, Mount Cole area, with nearly 40 entries for

the event VCRS and Novice Trial. It was great to see so many members turn out to support as

officials on the night and support a new directing team run their first event. A big thanks to the

directing team Ashley Mabbitt, Chris Stevens, Kylie Campbell and Garry Doyle, the event

seemed to run well and finished at a reasonable time (earlier than scheduled)

As I mentioned that there will be 4 positions on the committee this year, the last 2 years has

seen an election for committee. If you have thought about it, and have fresh ideas filling in

your nomination form and hand it to Chris Stevens.

As I am writing this, I have Dave Stewarts and My big trip on my mind a week away in the

Aussie Muscle Car Run. The Bluebird is already to rumble as we travel around Victoria raising

funds for the Leukemia Foundation. The team has raised over $5000 and hope to raise more

on our travels. I would like to thank all that has supported us over the last few months. I will be

updating the Bald Bandits Facebook page whilst we are away and will have a report for next

month’s Bulletin.

See you at the Club

Windus too good in Mitta Mountain Rally

Reigning champion, Darren Windus, took a convincing win in round two of the Victorian Rally Championship on Saturday. Driving a Subaru WRX, Windus and co-driver Joe Brick won the Border Oils & Batteries Mitta Mountain Rally by over four minutes to extend their lead in the championship. Warren Lee and David Lethlean took second place in a Lancer Evo IX after a flat tyre slowed their progress on stage one, while Viv Dilkes-Frayne and Tracey Dewhurst were third in another Subaru. Ford Escorts rounded out the top five, with Neil Schey heading home Grant Walker by 21 seconds. Based at Mitta Mitta in the Kiewa Valley, the event entailed just four stages, but all were over 30km in length. Retirements included Ivan Regester in his Subaru WRX, and Tony Moore, how suffered front end damage to his Ford Focus after sliding off the road in slippery conditions. The rally was directed by former Australian Rally Champion co-driver, Ross Runnalls. Full results from the event can be found at www.vicrally.com.au

Wombat Clean Up

Are you wanting to DO something about all that rubbish you see

in the bush? Like the sound of a weekend away with great peo-

ple, a free feed and a beautiful drive? Then Clean up the Bush is

for you! And we need your help.

Wombat State Forest has been hard-hit by illegal rubbish

dumping, and is in great need of our help. We are calling for

volunteers for a clean-up weekend on 4th-5th June. If you would

like to attend the whole weekend, that’s fantastic! If you can only

attend one day, that’s still a great help too. (Feel free to arrive on

the Friday for a free feed and relaxed start Sat morning).

BYO trailer/pair of hands if you can. We have camping facilities

and toilets at Bullarto. Dinners, Breakfasts and great company

provided!

If you are interested in helping out, please email

[email protected] for more information.

As with all FWDV events, we need vehicles to be roadworthy,

and volunteers to adopt the mantra of 'driving in a sustainable

environment'. Thanks!

Please think long and hard about the consequences your actions have on the rest of the Club Vehicle

Permit Schemes permitted vehicles and their owners when your club permitted vehicle is being used.

It is not a right to have a vehicle on a Club Permit, it is a privilege that is given provided all the boxes

are ticked and maintained. Incan be withdrawn at any time for many and varied reasons. Don’t be

the one that causes this club to lose that privilege.

Can you help at a club event, function or activity?:-

Our committee has been asking for help with recent and up coming events, Marshalling, Time Keepers at

the club track etc., etc.. If you want your club permitted vehicle signed off, here are some excellent ways

that you can get involved and cover the requirements of the Regulations, the Club Rules, enjoy a day or

two with fellow members, learn new activities and on it goes. The Club Supports Those That Support The

Club. It is a two way street. Please don’t wait until some one has to ring around. Put your hand up

and be counted.

FAIR NOTICE / FAIR WARNING / FAIR ENOUGH.

TO ALL CLUB PERMIT HOLDERS:-

I will be asking you to indicate what it is that you have been doing of have done for the club over the past

twelve months when you get your renewals signed. Be RESPECTFULLY FORE-WARNED that if you have

not helped, contributed, assisted, volunteered, etc., for your club (not necessarily all of them but at least

some to show you are a committed member) in some form, I will respectfully decline to sign your renew-

als until you can demonstrate to the club an that you have participated. This is not a heavy handed

broom but more over, to comply with the rules governing the issue of Club Permits to Club Members Ve-

hicles. Over the last twelve months things have been fairly relaxed to allow members to catch up and

adjust to the changes that occurred on the 31st of January, 2015. There have been prints outs and write

ups in the bulletin every month since, so that all members are fully informed of the requirements and

where their obligations are in relation to it. There have also been meetings held for members to come

along and ask questions, vent their points of view, and become informed. And also members who have

had vehicles admitted or renewed in that time have been personally informed of these requirements.

Please do the right thing by the club, Vic Roads and your Signatory and ensure you are not the one who

has to be declined- for non compliance. Act now and it wont happen to you. If you are not actively

involved in the club, without a valid exemption reason, then I cannot sign off on your permit.
