The Dhoad Gypsies from RajasthanA wonderful riot of percussion, melody, colourand theatre from this celebrated Indian folktroupe. The Dhoad family ancestry is rootedin the original land of the gypsies of northwest India, a land of wandering troubadoursand musicians who went from town to town, entertaining princes and their courtiers. TheDhoad gypsies keep this ancestry alive, as thetabla, drums and castanets lay a vibrantpercussive bed. On this the musicians createan atmosphere of musical enchantment. LeelaKumari dances the sublime gyrations of theRoyal Cobra and Munshi, the masterful fakir, breathes fire and treads a path on the bladesof swords and beds of nails. An unmissiblewhirlwind of traditional Indian folk music andtheatre from the Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan.See and hear more: Visit www.youtube.com and type in the band name.
