Erik Landegren, founder of Bridgewater Chocolate, grew up and received his culinary education in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1986, after gaining experience from several critically acclaimed restaurants, Erik moved to the United States. Arriving in New York to open restaurant Aquavit, he quickly fell in love with America. Chocolate, which was already Erik’s passion became a business in 1995 when he moved to Bridgewater, Connecticut and founded Bridgewater Chocolate, a company specializing in American style premium handmade chocolates, such as Törtéls, toffees and oversized caramels.

“I believe that my upbringing in Sweden gave me a good sense for quality. I was inspired by artistic people who were guided by pride and uncompromising beliefs in their creativity.”

In 1999, knee-deep in chocolate and with growing demand, Erik partnered with Andrew Blauner, who now manages the business operations of the company. They continue to create products that fulfill the highest expectations of their customers. Bridgewater Chocolate has been awarded “Most Outstanding Overall Food Product” by The Connecticut Specialty Food Association several times and has been featured numerous times on The Food Network.
