THE BIG MONKEYThe symbolic image of the monkey, the Construction scale and Materiality are what created this work together, through these three variants we want to provoke a creative experience interacting with the community.

THE SYMBOLIC IMAGE OF THE MONKEY:There are several attributes that are assigned to the monkey or ape figure, over the years and in different cultures, this icon has always been a recognizable image for all. But what highlight is the wild and primitive quality that is associated, authenticity and indomitable nature.

What would happen if for a moment we gave ourselves permission to become monkeys? what if we could act instinctively, without prejudice, from naivety and joy ?. That is the experience we want to put into practice, through the exercise of comparison and visualization.A literal figure of a monkey on a large scale arranged facing the viewer, in three dimensions. Intuitively produce the interaction of both, gestures and even adapting body posture are tools that lead the viewer to experience empathy with the monkey and approximate to this abreaction.

SCALE CONSTRUCTION:The work is projected in a dimension of 3.6m x 1,89m x 3,0m. This large scale is needed to generate the impact. Its size and dimensionality support the visualization and comparison exer-cise. Breaking with the traditional dimensions, they bring in the fantasy of this transformation.

MATERIALITY:It is built by recycled material, cardboard specifically, in its entirety. Structure and envelope.

The idea of transforming a quotidian material, which is usually projected as a fragile and dispo-sable material in a large-scale structure and gives life to an animal as MONKEY; It is to contri-bute to the fantasy of the experience, a waste is transformed into a creation.

With these three intentions the work is built, but to generate the experience is also important how it is presented to the viewer: THE RITUAL:The day the work is presented must be accompanied by a symbolic act that begins the celebra-tion, through this ritual the viewer can perceive and connect with the experience. At this point usually we work in collaborations with DJs and visualists who help us give life to the “Big Monkey”
