Car Track Zimbabwe approached our club with a proposal of holding a joint Golf Day fundraiser. The intended beneficiaries would be the Matopos Rhino Initiative and another project of our choice. In view of our strategic goals we nominated John Smale children’s home. The Golf Day was held on the 11th of October at Bulawayo Golf Club and was well attended with more than 72 players and vari-ous companies that came on board to advertise. The handing over part of the proceedes to the Matopos Rhino initiative coincided with the World Rhino Week and was very fitting given the importance of Rhodes Matopos National park in the rhino conservation efforts. TheThe funds would go towards repairing the southern section of the fence bordering the Whovi River to better protect the wildlife by restricting access to them.

The golf day was an outstanding success, and we received enough money to complete phase one of our project which was targeted at the restoration of the primary structures at the home particularly reinforcing the physical electrical and securi-ty featiures of the home. Thanks to the hard work of the team at Car Track we were able to purchase 1. Electricals (switches, sockets, light bulbs, electrical cables, fluorescents) this is sufficient to repair and fit all electrical systems in the home. 2. 25 Door handles and paint 3. We also got donations for 20 brand new doors and 15 fluores-cent lights All these items were handed over at a ceremony at the home on the 22nd of November and are awaiting fitting by the Depart-ment of Public Works

A Survey of the 1979 Harvard MBA class found that

Only 3% had written goals and plans,13% had goals but they weren’t in writing,84% had no goals at all,Asurvey conducted on the same class 20 years later foundThe 13% of the class who had goals, but did not write them down was earning twice The 13% of the class who had goals, but did not write them down was earning twice the amount of the 84% who had none, The 3% who had written goals were earning, on average, ten times as much as the other 97% of the class combined. This leads me to the Question “Have you set clear goals for your future and made plans to ac-complish them?Have you written them down?”
