Attention High School Parents and Youth: The Winter Retreat to Spring Hill Camp in
Michigan is February 10-12, 2012. The retreat would make a very special Christmas gift
for a high school youth! Cost is $129. Pick up a registration form in the Multipurpose
Room, Atrium or Children's Atrium. Contact Carole Cyrus ([email protected] or
440.773.4904) with questions.
Fellowship’s Annual Meeting in on Sunday, February 12, 2012. If you are a member
and would like to submit a recommendation for an Elder nomination to the Board,
please prayerfully read I Timothy 3 and Titus 1:6-9 before speaking with a member of
the Elder Nominating Committee (Bill Murschel, John Abbott or Gary Most). It is advisable
to speak with the potential nominee before submitting their name. Please note that it is the
function of the Nominating Committee of the Elder Board to bring forward a slate of
candidates for a vote by the membership; the Committee welcomes recommendations from
the church body. Nominations are requested by December 31, 2011; the sooner
candidates are brought forward, the better, as it allows time for due diligence.

We’re glad you’re here!
We’d like to get to know you. There is a Connection Card in the seat in front of you to
get you started. Please use the card to communicate your interests, praise and prayer
requests, or contact information (especially if you’re new here) with our staff. Drop it in
the offering basket, hand it to an usher, or bring it by the Connection Corner. Feel free to
call our office staff for any reason (440.543.5643). The Connection Corner is in the
Atrium (on the right as you leave); an Elder and his wife are available there to meet you,
pray with you, and/or answer your questions.
Devices to help the hearing impaired are available at
the sound booth in the back of the Worship Center.
Dear Church Family:
Every Christmas, I have to listen to a particular version of “O Holy Night”. It starts out with
a very dentist-office-style violin introduction and a male singer who sounds like a lounge
lizard trying to come off as profound. As the song continues, the singer’s vocal
shortcomings become more and more apparent until he is literally screaming the lyrics. The
first time I heard it, I laughed so hard I cried. But, in reality, this is one of those songs that
should never be messed with! Sung well, there is nothing like “O Holy Night” to prepare
our hearts for Christmas! I hope that as you are getting ready for the gift-giving and the
dinners and the relatives in town, you are setting time aside to ponder this coming sacred
moment, this holy night in which the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

Study Questions for December 25
1. Read John 1:1-18 five times this week. How does vv. 14-18 bring
this prologue to a climax? What is so stunning about this passage?
2. Read Exodus 33:12-34:8. What does Moses ask for in 33:18?
What does God say in response in 33:19-23?
3. Read Exodus 34:5-7. When God “passes by”, what does Moses
hear concerning God’s character?
4. Read Exodus 40:34-38. What happens at the end of the book of
Exodus with God’s presence? Where does it abide? Why is this
so revolutionary?
5. Go back to John 1:14-18. What words, concepts, images from
Exodus 33:18-34:8 and 40:34-38 do you see in this passage?
What is John trying to convey about Jesus to his readers? What
can we “see” that even Moses was not allowed to see? How so?
