Introduction
Setting Yourself Up for Success
1
As with anything in life, Amazon sellers need to put in time to build a solid infrastructure for their operation. The key to getting set up is doing research, research, and more research. The following practices can be implemented by Amazon beginners and experienced sellers alike in order to build, obtain or maintain an edge on your competitors.
To run a successful business, you need to have a brand identity in place. Your brand is more than just showing the same logo across all social media channels. It’s the persona that customers will recognize and come to expect from you, whether they are purchasing from your Amazon shop or scrolling through your Facebook page.
When customers engage with your company, they need to feel like they are working with the same person each time. A dependable brand voice is one of many marketing strategies that encourages buyer trust, which yields better sales and repeat customers. If you are a one-person brand, you’ll have less trouble making sure your brand voice and persona is consistent. If you have employees, it’s going to be a bit trickier.
To know if you’re on the right track, try this helpful exercise: Have all your employees write down the three words they believe best describe your brand. Not your products – your brand personality.
Ideally, all of your employees will come back with the same three words, or at least have words that are similar. If not, get back to basics with what you want your brand voice to be. Are you reliable, honest, and quick? Knowledgeable and willing to help? Hip, loud, and fun? This should be clear to customers, regardless of where or how they interact with you.
Particularly on Amazon where the bar for customer service is set very high, maintaining a steady brand voice will lend itself to better customer service. It costs about 6 to 7 times more to acquire new customers than to keep repeat shoppers. Perfect your brand voice, and you’ll earn success on Amazon and beyond.
