    BACKGROUND OF THE PROPOSED

    REPORT. Not all students have been attending to all of

    their classes. It is a very interesting and a

    normal students attitude to be absent in theirclasses. Therefore a researched report such as

    this may give awareness to the students,

    parents and even the university on the

    absenteeism habit of UMP students.

    METHODHOLOGY

    We give out 50 questionnaires to the 3rd

    semester male Mechanical automotive

    students which are from section M01, M02

    and M03. All those section are from mechanical

    automotive 3rd semester male students andbecause M01 and M02 students are in the

    same lecture. We gave the questionnairesafter lecture class for M01 and M02, but for

    M03 students we gave them by hands.

    Fortunately we got all 50 questionnaires from

    50 respondents and sorted it. Respondent

    from number 1 till 23 for M01, respondent

    from number 24 till 41 for M02 and 42 till 50

    for M03.

    After we gathered all the data from thequestionaries we key it into the table then we

    can proceed in turning the data into a graph.

    As we concern, this problem are long enough.

    Students always came to class wherever theywant. This may results their performance inlearning became badly.

    In our perception, most of this absent problem

    occurs when the students have no interest inthat subject. Some student not liked toremember a thing but liked to calculate.

    When there are the subjects that must to rememberor read, there will automatically not have effort tolearn on that subject.

    Our opinion is agreed by articles that we have read inMIT Faculty News Letter. Lecturer must try to thinkhow to make student feel interest on learning.

    Lectures must have two ways communication withstudent such as always wanted student to give anopinion. In this way, students will always alert onwhat the lecture said.

    When they know what have been taught, that meantheir academic rank will rise. In other word, they willhappy to learn and make even better in the future.

    Nowadays student have to had a marketableproperties among the private sector. These

    are because they always be looking forstudents that have a great qualities.

    These quality students mostly have a greatattendance in classes most research shows

    that students that have good attendancy inclasses will have achieved high performancein exams. These are true according to thedifficulties of the subject taught.

    The attendance policies also help students to

    come to classes therefore increasing theattendance rate and also it is a prerequisite in

    order to take exams. The attendance rate

    also affected by the time factor and how longa person have been in the university.

    Mostly the effect is focus on the exam, but

    the students skip classes for a purpose and

    sometimes they do it to do something better.

    When you see your friend(s) does not want to attendto class, what will you do?

    Pie chart shows the effect of friend to absent class. Inthis pie chart, 54% of student said that they will notfollow their friend that not attends to class. This

    percent is follow by 32% student will follow their friend

    to absent class. Lastly, about 14% are never seen theirfriend absent. By our research, we can conclude thatthe friend effect or not the main reason the student

    willing to absent. Although the effect of friend is not

    the main factor, but it still can be worried. 32% is quite

    big number and this may bring negative effect.

    How many times (in percent) do you skip from class

    last semester?This pie chart shows how many time students absentclass last semester. In our research, number of studentthat always absent is about 0-10% only. About 54%respondents are absent in this range. This follow by 20-

    30% and 16% respondents are in range. The number ofstudent who had the most terrible absent problem whichis 30-40%, 10-20% and above 40% is the least. All of itcarries 10% respondents. By this pie chart, we can statethat students of mechanical automotive year 2 are not

    always absent to class.

    SUMMARIZATION

    We manage to know the absenteeism habit

    of Faculty of Mechanical Automotive

    Engineering 2010 3rd semester University

    Malaysia Pahang male students.

    At the end of our report we concluded that

    we manage to achieve our objectives of studies.

    The data has been summarize in thediscussions and findings of the 15 pie chart,

    based on the 15 variables.
