Welcome to the sixth edition of the Wines from Spain Awards Guide. If you love exploring wine in general and/or Spanish wine in particular then this little booklet is for you! It will signpost you to some fabulous wine finds, unearthed by our dedicated panel of industry experts, from show-stopping Cavas to scintillating reds, mouth-watering whites and intriguing sherries.

Each and every one of the winners will have earnt a much-prized place on this ‘super-list’ having been put through its paces by our team of experts who judge the wines based purely on their liquid merit.

We are showcasing a selection of these wines at various wine fairs around the UK (see list opposite) alongside some delicious Spanish foods as part of our Eat Spain Drink Spain campaign (www.eatspaindrinkspain.com) so we hope to see many of you there!

2018 Wines From Spain AwardsThe Wines from Spain Awards represent everything that is best about one of the world’s most exciting wine-producing countries: quality, diversity and value for money. After a day’s very enjoyable judging, an experienced group of retailers, importers, sommeliers and journalists had the enviable task of selecting the best of the best: 106 wines from every corner of Spain. This is what we decided on.

There are some familiar names here, both in terms of producers and denominaciones, but plenty of lesser known ones, too, from areas such as Bullas, Ribeiro, Manchuela, Cádiz and Mallorca. It wasn’t deliberate – we just choose the wines we like most – but this is a very cosmopolitan selection.

More to the point, these are wines that lots of people can afford to drink, starting at £5.99 and peaking at £58. I think it’s the best Wines from Spain Awards line up yet and I hope you agree with me.
