The rapid growth of China as asignificant source of outboundtravellers has further strengthened ITEHK: China’s leading outbound travel agentshave their branches and/or subsidiaries here inHong Kong. In 1998, ITE HK staged the firstever China Outbound Seminar. The province ofGuangdong, the major source of China’soutbound travellers, is just next door and thenumber of buyers and trade visitors fromChina’s outbound segment attending ITE HKhas been on the rise!

The arrangement of ITE HK of having two daysfor trade only and two days open to the publicgives our exhibitors double exposure to boththe trade and public! Besides coverage in trademedia and direct mailings, we also launchextensive publicity campaigns in local media forthe public days and promoting our exhibitorsbeyond the fair ground. Besides, ITE HK is nowbeing held in early June, right before thesummer holidays and at the crucial period oftravellers fixing their travel plans for summeras a move designed to maximize benefits to ourexhibitors.

Having started 16 years ago, ITE HKhas seen parallel rises, both in theAsian outbound market and Asia itselfas a destination. The successful ITEHK 2002 attracted over 97 national /regional tourism offices and provinceorganizations, 450 exhibitors andabout 6,600 buyers and trade visitorsfrom 32 countries and regions! In onestop, buyers and trade visitors can seea wide range of attractions andserv ices target ing the Asianmarket and all buyers and sellerscan meet and discuss businesscooperation. Open Policy of China Outbound Travel AgencyFrom Sept 1, 2002 onwards, the number of license agencieswill increase from 67 to 535. Besides, all Chinese citizens arepermitted to select their own province to depart from out of 29departure points, which enhances the travel frequency ofChinese citizens.

organization in monitoring Hong Kong outbound travel

agents and protecting the interests of travelers and Agents.

Every year, over 1,300 TIC members, known as HK travel

agents, are invited to attend the TIC Reception. It delivers
