Revelation 4:9 And when the living creatures give glory (Worship) and honor (Praise) and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever,

Let us understand the difference between the three

Thanksgiving

• When we learn to Thank God , we would learn to thank men too.

• Thanksgiving comes with practice.

• Daniel 6: 10 – Daniel Gave thanks 3 times a day.

• Who are we in our spiritual life?

• Are we spiritual Infants?

Page 7: Thanksgiving,praise and worship

Thanksgiving

• Thanks giving is our duty because we are indebted to God to give thanks.• Are we in Debt?• Romans 1:21 (Even though they know God, they did not give thanks) – First step to sin.• Giving thanks should come from our heart. It is not a ritual• Reasons

• Psalm 118 :1, 21,28• Psalm 139 : 14

Page 8: Thanksgiving,praise and worship

Thanksgiving • Romans 8:28 does not work good for many Christians because we do not give thanks with a faithful heart

• Phil 4:6 – If we give thanks, we will get rid of anxiety

• When we give thanks to the Lord, we will not have doubts whether God will answer our prayers or not.

Praise

• Psalm 22: 3 – When we praise God, we prepare a throne for him

•Isaiah 61 :3 – Garment of praise

• When we praise God, we wear the garment pf praise. If not we are naked Christians.

•Are we naked Christians?

• Phil 2: 14 – Do not murmur. Why? Check the previous verse

• Psalm 8:2 – Praising God gives us strength to face the devil

Page 11: Thanksgiving,praise and worship

Praise

• Psalm 50 :23 – Who ever praises God makes a way for God to deliver him

• Jonah was delivered when he praised God

• Jesus praised the Roman centurion about his faith , Peter. We should learn from Jesus

• Are we misers in Giving Praise?

• Hebrews 2 :12,13 - Jesus is the song leader in Church

Page 12: Thanksgiving,praise and worship

The worship leader should not be idolized.

A comparison

A Traditional church has hymns and lyrics where as a Charismatic church is full people who worship God with raised hands. The surrounding (Traditional church/Charismatic church) should not influence the way we praise God. If we have the habit of praising God by lifting our hands in a Charismatic Church, we should be able to do that in a traditional church also.

Is our Praise influenced by our surroundings?

Myths about Music

1. Music drives away evil spirits

• Saul And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was

upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

1 Samuel 16 :23

But on the contrary

• Music can be used to play with emotions

• Even if the musician is a skilled person, music doesn’t drive away the evil spirit. Only the anointing of God drives away the evil spirit

Page 15: Thanksgiving,praise and worship

2. Music brings People to Christ. This is a myth too. Only the saving Grace of Jesus brings people to Christ.

Page 16: Thanksgiving,praise and worship
Page 17: Thanksgiving,praise and worship

• When ever heaven is mentioned, worship is also mentioned

• Surrendering and acknowledging God

• Romans 12:1 – Presenting our body as living sacrifices

• We should worship with words, speech, Silence

• Praise and thanksgiving is given to both men and God; but worship should be Given to God alone

Page 18: Thanksgiving,praise and worship

Music should be used only as a catalyst in Thanksgiving, Praise and

Worship. Music should never become a reactant in our prayers. If music is used as a reactant, then it would just

act as an emotional trigger and it would hamper our growth with God.

Music is a wonderful gift that God has given us. Let us use it with reverence.
