The first prize in the raffle will be a fully-equipped crafting project bag, with all the useful items you need, with other prizes also on offer.

For the first time we have expanded into Dornoch Cathedral who have kindly agreed to host a display of fabulous quilts by “Off the Wall” Textile Artists, so there is even more for you to enjoy at this years Fibre Fest!

Masterclass 2: Botanical Printing (2 day workshop) Tutor: Liz Gaffney Whaite Location: Social Club Day: Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th Times: 10 – 4 Cost: £75 Skills needed: None

Liz Gaffney Whaite is a lady of many talents, but as a qualified florist she has a natural and professional eye for botanical artistry.

Combining this with studies in millinery, fashion design and pattern construction, and her feltmaking business, Heartfelt by Liz, means that you will be learning from someone with a wide range of skills.

Liz furthered her Imprint skills with Irit Dulman, and her natural dyeing skills with Michael Garcia, and now combines these with Scottish grown plants, growing much of her own dye material.

On this two day workshop you will go on a journey to understand the basics of what botanical alchemy is about, working through from paper to fabrics, learning about mordanting and tannins used in botanical printing and the plants which are suitable for both dyeing and imprinting.

You will learn about layering and over dyeing and, having grasped the basics over these two days, you will take home a range of materials to further your experiments in this potentially amazing art form.

Materials will be supplied but you will need to bring an apron & gloves.
