A collaborative effort between the faculty , advisors, and graduate studies at A&M-Texarkana to ensure student success and persistence.
Goals: Identify at-risk students in all courses throughout the semester. Prompt instructors to raise flags on struggling students. Increase access to student support services, such as tutoring/supplemental instruction and counseling. Increase successful course completion rates. Create effective communication between faculty and staff to increase student retention rates at A&M-Texarkana. Gather qualitative feedback from students, faculty, and staff on the usefulness of Starfish.

Flag Name Description
Poor Academic Performance
Students who are not performing up to academic standards (C or below)
Poor Student Engagement
Students who are not actively participating in class.
Poor Attendance Students who are not consistently attending class or are constantly late.
Low Midterm Grade Student who have a C or below at Midterm
Tutoring Students who appear to be struggling with course material and concepts. Refer students to the Success Center for additional support.
Counseling Students who may have outside issues affecting academic performance or engagement
Positive Academic Performance (KUDOS)
Students who ARE performing well in class.
Poor Academic Performance, Poor Student Engagement, Poor Attendance, or Low Midterm Grade

Please note, the university has free academic assistance (tutoring) services that can aid in your effort to improve academic performance.
