Teslers’ Time Out Wellington events Gardens Magic This outdoor concert series has been running for seven nights already, but there is plenty of time to catch some incredible acts! Tonight (weather permitting) is The Yoots. Their ska versions of our favourite Maori waiata (songs) are taking Aotearoa by storm. Bring some kai (food), have a kanikani (dance) and enjoy the light show. Sat 24 Mar, 10am - 5pm, Aro Park. Sun 25 Mar - Welly Jamoff This Sunday is the Third Annual Great Welly Jam off. It’s a delightful event for watchers, tasters and jam makers. If you haven’t been to City Market before, make this Sunday your first visit. It’s home to the very best local food and beverage producers, is all uncover, and you can buy tasty treats from a new local restaurant in the Market Kitchen. Victoria CareerHub is an online system that provides you with all you need to know about job seeking, career planning and graduate recruitment. Even if you don’t plan on working in NZ, there are so many useful resources, including volunteer opportunities. Currently they are looking for volunteers for a fundraising event (Big Walk) for the Foundation of youth Development. This includes marshalls, registration helpers and qualified first aiders. See http://careerhub.vuw.ac.nz/ for many more opportunities! BEd(TESOL) info A Night at the Cinema Tomorrow evening we will be screening ‘Love Birds’ - a New Zealand comedy featuring Rhys Darby. This is a quirky, funny love story about a man, a woman and... a duck. Light snacks will be provided, but bring something to share if you would like! Fri 23 Mar, 6pm, AM 104 Cultural Programme The cultural programme for Trimester 1, 2012 is almost prepared! Expect some amazing theatre that you can interact with through your phone, some hilarious improvised comedy and an intriguing blend of classical music and art. As always, each show we offer has a uniquely Kiwi twist to it! You will receive the programme next week so you can start planning what to book in for. Victoria events 10 - 13 Apr - Uni Games The New Zealand University Games is the Flagship University Sporting event in New Zealand. It is one of the largest annual multi-sport events in New Zealand. In April, 2500 students from all around the country will converge on Wellington to compete in this event. Competition will be in 11 ‘sports’, including touch, football, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, lawn bowls and debating! See VUWSA’s website for more info on how to get involved. www.vuwsa.org.nz Fri 23 Mar - Lunchtime Concert: ‘Bis! Bis!’ Bis! Bis!” is Italian for ‘Again! Again! - Encore!’ This concert is a showcase ‘encore’ featuring NZSM students who did particularly well in their Classical Performance assessment recitals. This will be an inspiring concert from seven highly accomplished young musicians.
