From the Principal’s Desk Intensive Swimming What a massive couple of weeks many of our students have had as our Intensive Swimming program comes to a close for 2018. All reports have indicated that our students have made fantastic progress in the water and their attitudes and behaviour have been fantastic. Water safety is such an important skill for all children to develop and hopefully we can provide them with some foundation skills to build on through this program. I'd like to say a massive thank you to all of our qualified Austswim instructors for their time and make a special mention of our coordinating teachers, Miss Warmoll and Miss Wellham for all of their organisation. Yr 6 Orientation Day On Tuesday, many of our Year 6 students attended the Quirindi High School Orientation Day to participate in the final step of their transition to High School. Students participated in a treasure hunt to familiarise themselves with many of the activities, staff and facilities at the High School. I would like to express a massive thank you to Mr Ian Worley and his staff at Quirindi High School for all of their time and efforts they have put into supporting the transition of our students. End of Year Events Next week is a massive week on the school calendar with our Annual Presentation Night, Kinder/Year 6 Graduation Assembly and the Year 6 Dinner. These events are a time to acknowledge the wonderful achievements of many of our students. Please be aware that our Presentation Evening will be held at Quirindi High School starting at 7:00pm (doors will open at 6:30pm). It would be wonderful to see as many of our school community as possible in attendance to celebrate the 2018 school year. John Ireland Relieving Principal

Historical Society Visit On Tuesday, of this week, 5/6W had a visit from Julie from the Quirindi Historical Society. During this term, this Stage 3 class have been studying characters from Colonial Quirindi. Julie’s visit was aimed at exposing them to the work of historical researchers as well as, helping them find important information needed for their projects. The Quirindi Historical Society is a little treasure trove of information on our local district and is definitely worth a visit. Gifts needed for K-2 Christmas Shopping Day We would like to thank all the families who have already kindly donated some fantastic items for our K-2 Christmas Shopping Day. However, we still don’t have a huge supply of gifts and we are needing quite a lot more to enable all of our K-2 students the opportunity to participate. Friday 14 December 2018 will be our shopping day and we are asking all K-2 parents to supply five presents per family valued between 50 cents and $3. Most of our local shops have many items that will help our store. Some suggestions include: soap candles handkerchiefs powder combs stationery perfume jewellery ornaments garden tools mugs key rings Talent Quest Our Talent Quest has been in full swing these last couple of weeks. Well done to those students who entered an item. Some involved a great deal of practice and co-operation.
