We bid farewell to our year 4 campers this morning, there were 40 very excited students ready to embark on their two night trip to Darwin and surrounds. Miss Shipway and Miss Scott were also keen to get away and visit a range of different places to enrich the learning of our students, some of the stops on the itinerary are the Bullocky Point Museum and Art Gallery, Fannie Bay, Military Museum, Leanyer Water Park, Territory Wildlife Park, Royal Flying Doctor Museum, Chinese Temple and Museum, Government and Parliament Houselots to fit in and lots of visits that will enhance the learning the students are doing in HASS about the NT and our history. Yesterday our girls AFL team travelled to Barunga for the Girl Power AFL Competition. The competition was established last year and included 6 teams from the wider Katherine region. The girls played 5 games in a round robin style and also participated in a skills session run by Katherine High students. The girls had a great time: Jordyn and Kate, our captains say Yesterday was really fun, all the girls played really well and playing against other schools from the region was a new experience. At lunchtime there was a big BBQ, we all sat down and ate lunch together; until Kellys sandwich was pooped on by a crow! We would like to thank Miss Corvino and Mr. Dale for their training and support on the day.Ruby, one of our young AFL stars says I have loved footy since I was little, my favourite part is being a defender, playing up the back. I was happy that our team came third. We had a few boys participate in the Matakana Rodeo, Ned Osmotherly, Max & John Whitehouse. Max came third in the junior poddy ride 9-13 years, having only turned 9 the day before, which was a great effort. I was really proud of myself because I have just gone up an age group. I won $97 and a ribbon. (Max, Yr.3) The best part was riding the poddys because it was fun. (John, Yr. 2) It was a good weekend. I rode two poddies on the second day. I participated in a rodeo school and rode for 14 seconds, our challenge was to get to 8 seconds. (Ned, Yr.5) Ross is in Brisbane this week with the NT Rugby League side, he is having a great time and sent through a few photos to share. The boys won their first game and Ross converted a try against South Australia. The games against WA was not so good, their team is quite big! They are yet to play ACT and hope with some renewed energy they do well. Ross has also caught up with an ex KSPS student from years ago and watched him play ice hockey. The highlight of his trip

CANTEEN NEWS This week the T-2 Art of the Week award goes to Harriet Wallace from T/1 Robertson, who created a picture for the PlanetArk National School Tree Day competition. Harriet drew a picture to show that she would like to see more green and more trees with fruit at our school. Good luck to Harriet and the rest of the T/1's who are in with a chance to win $250 from PlanetArk for school gardening. Miss Jess Corvino

so far however, has been meeting 'the King'.

Finally this week, I would like to reinforce some important messages regarding student safety. We would like to remind parents of the need to consider others and the safety of our students when driving and parking around the school. Parents are reminded that: The Staff/Visitor Carpark is not to be used for student drop off/pick up. The school bus bay must be kept free for bus access and parents are asked to park in the car bays not the bus bay. The Kiss and Go facility is supervised

and offers a very smooth pick-up option after school. Parents are asked to consider using this facility rather than parking. Parents are also reminded that speeding or dangerous driving/parking put children at severe risk and if they continue, the school will report incidents to the police. That is it from me for another week, I hope to see you all at the Mad Scientist Meet and Greet next Tuesday evening, this has been a big hit on our school calendar since its inception back in 2017, and this year proves to be just as exciting. Have a great week. Karen Taylor Principal

Student Attendance Term 3 Week 2

Hello everyone. 5/6 Patterson has settled in extremely well to term three and our year sixes have been working on our CV’S in preparation for applying for citizen of the year. Year 5’s have also been researching what students have to do to apply for a particular job. We have been researching what qualifications are needed to pursue a particular career that we are interested in. We have also been analyzing what a great interview looks like as well as what a bad interview looks like. Students have had fun practicing their acting skills in preparation for our assembly item which involves the students showcasing their role plays. Many students are definitely actors / actresses in the making. We are also looking forward to the high school transition days as well as participating in interschool sports in the coming term. We hope you enjoy our assembly item and have a great term.
