Hello KSPS families, Welcome to week 5! We have reached the halfway point of Term 3 already and have accomplished so many things during this time as a school community. There are many exciting events coming up in the next 5 weeks including the year 4 camp, fun day and book week character day to name a few. At the moment, even with the focus being on the musical, our students are working very hard completing their learning tasks in class and striving to reach their learning goals. Last Friday Yr. 3/4 Shipway had their class sleepover . The students enjoyed having the school to themselves and playing on equipment they dont normally have access to. Apparently dinner and the movie were good too. Thank you to Miss Hannah, Mel and Darryn Whelan for supporting Miss Shipway with the sleepover, we rely on your help to ensure these experiences are successful. The best part for me was playing spotlight and watching Boss BabyNed, Year 3. I liked the double slushies and having custard and jelly for desert. Temperance, Year 4. Just a reminder that the 2017 School Survey is now available online at the link below. This annual survey collects the opinions of students, families and staff about school performance, culture and services. The results of the survey will be used to inform planning activities, identify school improvement, increase student outcomes and meet student, parent and staff expectations. The survey will take approximately 15 – 20 minutes. If you dont have access to online facilities, there is an iPad and printed copies of the survey available in the front office. All responses are kept confidential. https://www.schoolsurvey.edu.au/s/Ut9AxvPe Due to ongoing concerns for student safety, we are temporarily closing the gate at the other end of the oval. There are only a small number of families that use this area and we apologise for any inconvenience, however, with the Hot Springs upgrade still having a huge impact and the large number of tourists using this area, we will keep it locked until further advised. Parents still have the option of kiss and go and the back gate. If using the back gate, please park in the school grounds so students are not walking across the bus access road to get to the car. I hope to see you all at the whole school musical tomorrow evening, our students and staff have done an amazing job at putting the show together and I know you will all be so proud of their efforts. The main cast have been living and breathing their characters for the past two weeks, there has been lots of improvising and helping each other out during rehearsals. The benefits of performing has really paid off for all students, self-esteem is high and while still a little anxious, the pre performance jitters are a natural part of the whole experience. Im feeling really nervous but also excited. Last week Katherine South Primary participated in the Katherine Region Cross Country. All students represented the school with great honour, completing the 2km run for the 2007 age group and 3km run for the 2005 and 2006 age group. A big congratulations to William

Wallace who received second place for the 2005 boys.
