President's Message • . .
Our capping study group presented its report to the Congregation at the special Congregational Meeting called for this purpose. All present were impressed with the tremendous amount of research performed and presented. This group, consisting of Chairman Ted Largman and members Ricki and Fred Bernstein, Jay Dayan, Gene Gordon, Fred Glickman, Dick Hess and Zelda and Mike Israel, did an impressive job. Their motion not to cap our membership at this time passed overwhelmingly.
It is impossible for me to summarize in this
column their presentation supporting their motion. Copies of their report are available in the Temple office to interested Congregants. Since it is quite lengthy, we will not mail the copies. However, I should note that in addition to the obvious reason against capping, our traditional open door policy, they added the conclusions that the rate of growth of our membership will probably be much lower than projected by the earlier Long Range Planning Cottee report, and that our Religious School enrollment will probably not grow.
Where do we go from here? The Needs and Wants Cottee, heded by Nat Rose, must now decide what to do about our facilities in the light of this information. Individual members of the Capping Study Group will join the Needs and Wants COmuUttee and participate in the deliberations. I will keep you informed as we progress.

OUTREACH PROGRAM NEWS
A big thank you to all of you for returning our Needs Assessment Questionnaire. The programs most requested were: Introduction to Judaism Classes, Workshops on The Jewish holidays, classes on how to create a Jewish home, audio cassettes of basic prayers and Jewish songs, and an information session on the Outreach Program and the various sharing groups.
Based on these results, we have planned our first program for Sunday, April 8th, at 11 a.m. in the Social Hall. This will be an informational brunch entitled, "Who Is A Jew?". Issues concerning conversion, interfaith marriages, patrilineal-matrilineal descent and other related topics will be discussed by the Rabbis, the Outreach Committee and the audience. A short film will be shown, followed by a question and answer period. We will then break into smaller groups to discuss whatever shared concerns each group might have. The program will be open to non-Temple members as well as the congregation. Please cali for reservations as we will need to know how much food to prepare: ( Connie Rosenberg 539- 3283, Debbie Ross 267-4722 or Pat Glucksman 221- 1142) .
To the people who indicated they would be interested in the "Adoptive Family" program -Please call me! As the questionnaire was anonymous, I have no way of knowing who you are.
Pat Glucksman, Chairman
jsterhood
Our program at Bloomingdale's was a huge success. We were treated to an update on decorating trends as well as delicious refreshments. Thanks to our Program Chairperson, Bobbi Schatz, we had a wonderful time!
Rabbi Aron will conduct a PASSOVER WORKSHOP at the home of Eleanor Dornfeld on Thursday evening, March 29th. She will discuss the history of Passover customs and their .meanings, and will answer any questions we have.
April 1st brings us a new kind of fundraiser - an ORIENTAL RUG SALE. We will have a large display of beautiful rugs, all sizes, at prices about half of retail cost! Plan to come and shop, or just browse. Details will be mailed shortly.
Also in April is the FAMILY PASSOVER SEDER. This is always a sell-out, so send your reservations as soon as you receive the form.
On the agenda for May is a program with Dr. Harry Galinsky, Superintendent of the Morris School District, as our speaker. And - - we're planning a Sunday evening "Pot Luck" supper to get better acquainted, to socialize, and to just have fun.
Join us!
Ellen and Marilyn
THANK Y OU to 3rd Grade mothers, Caryl Gordon:-Iecile Selwyn, Carolyn Stein and Linda Steinman for the invaluable help at the Tu Bishvat Seder on February 4th. Your cheerful cooperation was greatly appreciated!

. . an acronym without meaning? We hope not! Born in 1977, the American Reform Zionist Organization is an advocacy organization which continues to fight for re11gious rights of the non-orthodox in Israel. It combines support for Israel with a commitment to Judaismls progressive and humane traditions.
But that is not all. ARZA means: the Reform Legal Defense Fund, Arab-Jewish Youth Camp, Garin Arava, Mitzpeh Har Chalutz, scholarships for Yahel and Lotan, representation at the W. Z. O. , aliyah and. affiliation with the UAHC. Confused? Watch for the special mailing and brochure explaining all about ARZA. Read it carefully, think it over, and respond. Your efforts will give new life to Reform Judaism in Israel.
If you still want to know more, calendar Friday, April 27th - ARZA Shabbat at Temple BINai Or - a time for understanding how Reform Jews can work for religious equality in Israel.
Fran Stern, Chairperson 538-2689
