The noble profession of teaching has provided me with a lifetime of memories. There have been days when I felt the world was falling apart and that it was being swept along in a tidal wave of human destruction but fortunately I have survived to tell these stories. Stories of absolute joy as I watched a child beam with delight as they realised that they had learned something, stories of shared success in the classroom, in the playground, on the stage, on the playing fields and at secondary school. I have marvelled at the talent, dedication and professionalism of so many teachers over the past thirty years. I have been privileged to have met, worked in partnership with and made friendships with so many parents. I leave the profession with a heavy heart and give thanks to all that have provided me the privilege to be a school leader for nearly thirty years. I wish you all every happiness in life and please remember the greatest gifts you can give your children are love, time and education. This is my final newsletter as Principal of Telarah Public School. I have decided to retire from the beginning of Term 3 to spend more time with family. I have had a very enjoyable two and a half years at Telarah Public School and have seen many students achieve some excellent outcomes. The next twelve months promises to be an exciting one with the completion of a new library, support rooms and three new classrooms. When I eat a meal at night I leave the best for last. This is also the case with the schools I have worked in. I rate the staff at Telarah Public School the best I have had the privilege of leading. This includes the teaching, administrative, support and cleaning staff. Many people ask me about what is different at Telarah Public School now compared with three years ago. Maybe this can be assessed by a scripture teacher who said “as scripture teachers we love coming to Telarah Public School as it is a happy school”. Hopefully I made some contribution to ensuring a positive culture and happy tone in the school. To all the kids, yes I will miss you. I encourage you all to try hard with your school work, participate in school activities (academic, social, cultural and sporting), strive for excellence in whatever you do and most importantly, do as you are asked both at school and at home. I urge you all to continue to support your great school at Telarah and public education. Mr John Milburn has been appointed as Principal of Telarah Public School for the remainder of 2010. SCIENCE WEEK What a great exhibition of students work in Science we saw in the hall last week. The children will take down the exhibition today. Congratula- tions to Jesse, Reid and Billy from 4T whose car won the Stage 2 Race-Off last week. They have each won three tick- ets to the movies as a reward for all their hard work and collabora- tion. SCHOOL BOOKS Help!!! Could you please help students locate library books and readers that are at home and need to be returned. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. COMMONWEALTH BANKING All student Commonwealth Banking will be banked on a Tuesday. Students are able to leave their bank books at the front office.

Big Blokes and Little Blokes Science Night

Last Wednesday night parents and students enjoyed a range

of science activities and a sausage sizzle in the school hall.

The activities were a range of sound experiments,

investigating surface tension of milk and water, design and

building a piano and a pin wheeel. A special thank you to

Mrs Kelly, Mr Wiblen, Mr Debenham, Mrs O’Neill and Mrs

Cantwell for helping make the night so successful.

NAIDOC DAY Naidoc Day is a day for celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Culture. During the day students explored aboriginal games, created aboriginal art work and learnt about aboriginal dance. Students had the chance to taste crocodile and kangaroo sausages with the crocodile sausages coming out as a favourite. The school was treated to an excellent performance by our own Aboriginal Dance Group and the 6K music group.
