The hospital has performed few more surgeries as the May of last year. The good news is full time paediatric Ophthalmologist Dr. Anshuli Sood has joined from 7th May. We have started preparing one separate drum for each surgery. We will set the system in such a way that we will be able to continue the same even in winter. We have started fast track OPD from this month. The response has been quite favourable. Almost 10-15 patients are coming to fast track OPD daily. We will try to strengthen this further. We have decided to start planning for entry level NABH accreditation. Our team – Mr. Nikhil Mehta, Mr. Vimal Prajapati, Mr. Jignesh Patel and Mr. Riteh Shah visited H. V. Desai Eye Hospital, Pune for four days to understand the systems in place. They have started ground work after coming back. Vision 2020 India: The Right to Sight Programme has decided the revise its cataract management guideline. Dr. Uday is one of the four members working on the revision. Two telecom meetings have taken place till date for the same. NETRAJYOTI TRAINING CENTRE: Dr. Anjal Shah from Surat has completed phaco fellowship. Dr. Abhishek Kathiria from Bhavnagar also completed his one month phaco fellowship during the month. Second semester of B. Optometry students has started and academic activities are going on full swing. The Certificate course in Diabetic Retinopathy has been completed this month. Two sessions were conducted during the month on 6th and 20th of May. This was done for PHFI. Dr. Bhavin Patel and Dr. Pawan Begani are providing their services on a voluntary basis as faculty for the course. Observer Dr. Tanu Soni from PHFI was present during the third session and expressed satisfaction at the way the session was conducted. Against 14 registrations, only 11 delegates completed the course. All of them have cleared the final exam and certificates will be sent by PHFI in due course of time. Optometry students visited the university campus and met the vice chancellor. We have celebrated completion of seven years with great enthusiasm. On 20th – Sunday, we organised a blood donation camp for the staff members – 28 members including one female member donated blood. In the

afternoon, Ganesh pujan was organised. And in the evening, a cultural programme by the staff members was enjoyed by 200+ staff and family members, the programme was followed by dinner.

Fullerton team with Mission for Vision members conducted a review of the work going on at Vyara. They expressed entire satisfaction at the way the centre is being managed and the documentation is done. They gave a

couple of useful suggestions.

PHFI team comprising of Dr. Tripura and Dr. Anirudhdh came for review of the progress of the project. They visited all the four CHCs and the Surat civil hospital. Dr. Anirudhdh could join us for the session at FPA also.

They found that Umarpada centre is doing very well, however at other CHCs, much more efforts are required. Health education material was present at all the places except Areth CHC. We will strengthen our monitoring

visits further. Plans to create peer group was also discussed. We will try at Civil Hospital, Surat and in Umarpada CHC area to begin with.

First batch of half of the staff members visited Jyoti eye hospital, Visnagar and Vasantprabha hospital, Vadnagar towards the end of the month. They also visited the blind welfare activities of Rastriya Andh Kalyan Sangh,

Mehsana Branch, Prof. Ramnikbhai Halari in Visnagar. On the way back, they visited Sharpedge industries and saw the manufacturing of the IOLs and surgical blades first hand. Our well wisher and long time donor Shri

Manibhai Prajapati made all the arrangements for the lodging - boarding of the staff members and spent good amount of money for this. We sincerely appreciate his generosity.

Third district level co ordination committee meeting was organised during the month for the Diabetic Retinopathy project. Honorable district collector Dr. Dhavalbhai Patel gave us good fifteen minutes and we undated

him about the project, progress made and future plans.

Drawings for the new campus at Amalsadi are freezed. Now, the other activities will begin. NA procedure is also going on alongside.

Our registration in the NGO Darpan portal of the Govt. of India was completed during the month.

Mr. Laljibhai Patel – social welfare officer visited the hospital for inspection and for his eye chaeck up.
