•A broad concept that deals with an animal species’ usage and knowledge of tools and crafts, and how it affects an animal species' ability to control and adapt to its environment.

•The way we use the tools that we have available to us and how those tools help us to better understand our world.

LAB•A lab is a time and a place where, under controlled conditions, students can learn new concepts or review old concepts.

•During the lesson•Before/after the lesson while

students are waiting such as in multi-family member lessons•At the students home


Music Ace Maestro

Great theory learning program available for purchase as 1 or 2 separate programs or as 1 all-inclusive teacher’s addition.


Theory GamesTheory learning program that corresponds with the Alfred Piano method. Also works well for specific assignments.


Interactive MusicGreat for younger learners. Creative characters take them through games and activities centered around classic compositions.


Piano WizardA program that teaches students how to play the piano

by matching colors and rhythms and eventually progresses to full Grand Staff Music Reading. Great for students who don’t normally play the piano as

their main instrument as well

as current piano students.


GroovyStudents use shapes and pictures

to compose songs. They can also

do ear training activities as well as

view their composition in full musical

score. Great for young and old and

a favorite among all of my students.


AuraliaThis is a more advanced

program specifically used for beginning to advanced vocalists but can be used with any advanced instrumental student. A challenging ear-training program but very worth the cost.


• Ear Master Pro (as suggested by teachers on the web-call)

This is another program that was suggested

by teachers on the web-call. This

program includes over 400 lessons as

well as 200 jazz lessons. Also has the

capability of adding your own exercises.


Meet the MusiciansThis is a great video series. It works

well for small group or individualized sessions. I will split the video and have students watch the 2 acts across 2 separate lessons. I like it because it not only talks about a composers music but also gives students personal information that the students find relatable.

This program requires an on-line subscription for teachers. Each teacher enrolls his/her students and they can access the program from home. I have used this as part of the lab time as well as at-home assignments. You can add fun competition to your studio by having students compete on one game for the week and then reward the highest scorer.

• Musictheory.net (free program suggested by teachers on the web-call)

This program is available freeon line. It is also availableto be printed out. Several Take-Lessons instructors recommended this one. This would not be a good

program for individualized work for non-readers but for anyone else I think that it would be a wonderful addition!
