Candidate name: Theme: Architectural Exploration of Salford Quays

Predicted final outcome

For my photography task I shall be taking photos of Salford quays in order to permute Manchester to the public .I’m trying to show Manchester in a good light this means that all the photos that I take must have a positive vibe to them. While there I am hoping to take a large amount of photographs (having a minimal of 50 )then out of the photos I have taken I shall then pick 10 to work as my final piece .during my shooting I should try to get iconic locations in Manchester and after use photo editing software such as Photoshop to give the images some personally in order to improve them .

Reasons for selection of theme (including inspiration from the work of others)

I feel that the best way of showing Manchester in its finest would be to take the photographs landscape . I think that this will help show of all of the iconic structures and arcertecture around Manchester

This is work from Luke Tscharke he one of the photographers that I will use as my inspiration in the when I do my shoot. I like how this artist uses a mix of natural photography with the sun ,sky and wart alongside the bridges and structures this is something that I hope to use during my shoots .

The following work is done by the photographer Reto Fetz I am going to use him as inspiration for my work because I enjoy how he has used the reflections of the buildings in the water I believe that I could use this on my work at Salford Quays because I can reflect the buildings off the canal .

The final person that I am takening insperation from is Mirek Galagus . I like how he has used to the weather to change the mood of the shots . Im probaly going to digily change the wheater on my shots to make a happyer mood on a photo editing softwear

The photo imaging equipment and medium that will be used and why

The camera that I shall be using for my shoots will be the Canon EOS 1100D.Some of the features that this camera will includes is 12.2 mega pixels ,6400 ISO, Continues shooting ,LCD screen and optimize lighting levels

The lenses that I shall be using is the default 18 – 55 mm lenses for close to mid shots .I will also be using a Cannon EF 75mm-300 mm lenses for far off shots . I will also be using a GIOTTOS tripod if needed which is 3/8” mounted with a max high of 1.76 m

Techniques that will be used and how they will help convey the visual message

During the shoots I am planning on uses different techniques in order to give the images a good look . I shall be using a high ISO , considering the weather lately it will most likely be gloomy and dull this would not put Manchester in a good light so I shall increases the lighting in order to make it brighter and have given off an upbeat mood. I shall also be using the rule of thirds to attempt to draw the viewer’s eye to a particular object or building .I should not need to worry about the shutter speed since there should be little movement but I might want to take it into consideration in I have people in on the shots. Finally aperture I shall have a narrow aperture so the background will be out of focus so the viewer focuses on the particular object that I am aiming for.

Location of shoot The location that I shall be doing the shooting at is Salford quays that are located within grater Manchester. Some of the iconic sites that are located there are the imperial war museum, the Lowry and the media city. In the media city the BBC and ITV studios are now there theses might turn out for some interesting shots .
