TERM 2 Week 10
GOOD COUNSEL
PRIMARY SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER
SEEK, LEARN AND SERVE
war cries, junior sprints, relays, ball games
and tug-o-war. The spirit of the event being
held here at school was electric with every
student competing. Yesterday saw our
senior students completing their field events
and today their sprints, 200m and 800m
events at Callendar Park.
Some trophies have been awarded (results
below) with our overall trophy to be presented
at the end of today. We will have Age
Champions and the overall results in the
newsletter next term.
Tug-O-War - Polding
Relays - Clancy
Ball Games - Clancy
Team Spirit - MacKillop
This week we have five past GCP students
completing their GCC Year 10 work
experience here. We welcome back Kaitlyn
Onaindia, Olivia Laksa, Gurshaan Singh,
Coen Mercer and Aiden Herbert and hope
they have a wonderful learning experience.
During the holidays, Miss Kiara Adamson
(Prep A) will be married. This is an exciting
time and we all wish her well in her final
preparations for the big day. When she
returns she will be Mrs Ridolfi.
On the first Friday of next term, we will have
Grandparents Day. This is an important
event on our yearly calendar and we will be
open to inviting all grandparents to school for
our Year 6S special assembly; classroom
visits and morning tea. Luckily our COVID
restrictions relating to classroom entry and
the serving of food have been further relaxed
to allow this event to occur similar to past
years. Save the Date - Grandparents Day
Friday 16 July.
I take this opportunity to thank all our
fantastic staff who have worked tirelessly
during Semester 1 and of course our great
GCP students who have also worked hard to
a earn a well deserved mid-semester break.

22ND JUNE, 2021
Dear Parents/Carers,
This Thursday, we will have all student
reports uploaded to the Parent Portal. Access
to the portal is via the Good Counsel Primary
Website. Please take the time to read your
child’s report. To give you the best gauge of
where your child is working in relation to the
year level curriculum, many hours of
assessment throughout the semester have
been conducted, as well as the time teachers
have taken to moderate grades between
classes and formulate comments .
The following are some guiding points
when sitting to read your child’s report, taken
from Michael Grose’s Parenting Ideas
Platform.
Before you open your child’s report, are
you in the right frame of mind?
Are your expectations for your son or
daughter realistic and in line with their
ability?
Don’t compare siblings or your friends’
children or yourself as a child, because
children learn at different rates
Focus on your child’s strengths
Take into consideration your child’s
effort and attitude to learning, not just
the number of A’s and B’s
Discuss the report with your child,
talking about strengths first before
looking at areas that need
improvement. Ask for their opinion
about how they performed and discuss
concerns
Should you have concerns with elements of
your child’s report, make contact with your
child’s teacher early next term to discuss. A
reminder that a printed copy of student
reports will be sent home during Week 1 of
next term.
What wonderful weather we have enjoyed for
our Athletics Carnival which this year has
been spread out over three days concluding
today. Friday was a sea of colour with
students and staff dressed up for march past/

END OF TERM PRAYER
We thank you Lord, for this term.
For the challenges, the successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt.
Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right; to be witnesses of our faith.
Help us to be practical these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time
and effort to help others.
To be peacemakers in our family.
Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun.
Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term.
We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents
And a community that cares for us.
May we be always conscious of you in our lives.
Amen.
