Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2016
All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Jjayalalithaa haschanged several of the party's candidates from the list of candidates earlier announced on April 4,2016, for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections.
In a statement issued by Jayalalithaa, the party announced that N Murugumaran (to contest inKattumanarkoil), S Pounraj (Poompuhar), B Satyanarayanan (T Nagar), S Semmalai (Mettur), O SManian (Vedaranyam), S Kamaraj (Mannarkudi) and A Nanjil Murugesan (Nagercoil) will contestinstead of the previously announced candidates in the respective constituency.
Earlier, she changed the candidate for Aruppukottai constituency, announcing former SchoolEducation Minister Vaigai Selvan as the new candidate. C R Saraswathi, who has been aspokersperson of the party, was announced as party candidate for Pallavaram constituency replacingC V Elangovan. She also announced Rajan Chellappa for Madurai North seat instead of MSPandiyan.

According to reports, she also changed three candidates in Puducherry, where the party is contestingin all the 30 seats. M Shankar (to contest in Thirubuvanai), K A U Asana (Karaikal South) and GMurugaian (Thirunallar) will be the official candidates instead of the people announced earlier.
AIADMK is contesting in 227 seats out of the total 234 constituencies inTamil Nadu Elections2016and 30 seats in Puducherry, and seven seats in Kerala, for the assembly elections scheduled totake place in May, 2016.
