SPEAKING DIAGNOSTIC TESTTACTICS FOR TOEIC

You are about to take the Tactics for TOEIC Speaking Diagnostic Test

Before you begin, please make sure that the digital recorder is turned on and recording.

The TOEIC Speaking testconsists of 11 questions

and will take about 20 minutes to complete.

Here is an overview of the test.

Each section tests various skills in English.

Questions 1-2 test your pronunciation

You will be asked to read a text aloud within 45 seconds and will be assessed on your pronunciation, intonation, syllable stress and pauses.

QUESTION 3TACTICS FOR TOEIC

Question 3 tests your ability to describe a photo.

You will have 30 seconds to prepare. Then you will be asked to describe a photo for 45 seconds. You will be assessed on your grammar, vocabulary, and cohesion; how you connect ideas and sentences.

QUESTIONS 4-6TACTICS FOR TOEIC

Question 4-6 tests your ability to answer questions quickly and accurately.

You will be asked to respond to questions within 15 seconds and will be assessed on all the previous points, as well as how relevant and complete your responses are.

For these questions, you will have no preparation time.

Questions 7-9 are integrated tasks, testing your ability to scan information and respond.

You will be asked to read a text within 30 seconds and respond to three questions regarding it. You will be assessed on all the previous points mentioned.

Question 10 is another integrated task, this time however you will be listening instead of reading.

You will be asked to listen to a message involving a problem. You then have 30 seconds to prepare, and 60 seconds to respond with a solution to the problem.

Question 11 is the final question and asks you to express an opinion.

You will be asked to give your opinion on a certain topic. You then have 15 seconds to prepare, and 60 seconds to respond with your answer and opinion.
