3. Normal procedures3.1 Use of aircraft systemsProcedures contained in the Wizz Air Virtual Airlines are approved by the appropriate Authorities and take precedence over Airbus procedures where differences occur. All procedures are based on the basis of the actual procedures of Wizz Air.

Sliding tables are to be stowed : - On departure before entering the runway until reaching a safe altitude;

- On arrival from the time when approach C/L is completed until reaching the parking position.

EGPWS:TERR on ND should be selected on one ND when operating into/out of airports with significant terrain in the vicinity.

Weather radar:As a general rule, weather radar should be ON from takeoff until landing. Radar may be kept/turned OFF only when there is absolutely no possibility of weather threat until landing.

XPDR and TCAS:According the serial number, transponder/TCAS panel is one of the following:

Page 8: Table of contents - Wizz Air Virtual · PDF fileTable of contents 1.General ... Wizz Air Virtual Airlines is based on the real-world Wizz Air which was ... - In case of turbulence

3.2 Use of aircraft systems

Transponder CodeOn departure, the assigned code should be selected as soon as received from ATC. If not assigned from ATC (when ATC is offline), pilot have to change the squawk code to 2000. On arrival, code 2000 should be selected when reaching the final parking position.

Autobrake and reverse thrustReverse thrust is always to be used, if available. Full reverse should be selected immediately after main gear touchdown and then set to idle if appropriate. Idle reverse should be maintained until taxi speed or leaving the runway.

Reverse thrust/autobrake usageThe most economic way of stopping the aircraft is IDLE REV and LOW AUTOBRAKE (or manual brakes), The safest (and also recommended by AIB) is FULL REV and MED AUTOBRAKE

BrakesThe use of A/BRAKE is usually preferable because it minimizes the number of brake applications and therefore reduces brake wear. Additionally, the A/BRAKE provides a symmetrical brake pressure application which ensures an equal braking effect on both main landing gear wheels on runways with equally distributed water or other contanimation. Moreover,the A/BRAKE is recommended on short, wet, contaminated runway, in poor visibility conditions and in case of an Autoland. The A/BRAKE should be selected during approach preparation. It is forbidden to change the A/BRAKE selection after touchdown (during the landing roll). The selection of A/BRAKE has to be done with the involvement of the other pilot. No selection can be made independently and silent. The level of A/BRAKE (LO/MED/NO) and reverse thrust (Idle/Full) selected should take into consideration: - Length of the planned landing run;

- Runway conditions and head/tail wind;

- Brake temperatures versus turnaround time available;

Takeoff flaps setting The first priority is flex, second priority is flaps setting. With similar flex and normal runway conditions, choose lower flaps setting (1 being lower than 2). Whenever the flex is above 60, lower flaps setting is recommended, as far as the flex remains above 60.

Page 9: Table of contents - Wizz Air Virtual · PDF fileTable of contents 1.General ... Wizz Air Virtual Airlines is based on the real-world Wizz Air which was ... - In case of turbulence

3.3 Use of aircraft systemsLanding flaps setting - Landing flaps 3 is to be considered on long runways where high reverse thrust or high braking is not required.

Note 1: landing flaps 3 is not recommended in case of turbulence; Note 2: Autothrust is mandatory for landing flaps 3.

Automations It is Wizz Air Virtual Airlines policy to make maximum use of automation and managed modes to reduce workload and enhance flight safety in busy environments and/or in poor weather.

Autopilot is to be engaged as soon as aircraft stabilized in climb (400 to 700ft).

When weather is good and if ATC give clearance for ‘visual approach’, pilot can fly manually.

Use of A/THR is the preferred method, even when flying manually. Manual thrust may be used for practice only when flying an ILS approach with FD‟s on. When manual thrust is intended, it has to be clearly briefed and A/THR disconnected at latest 5000 feet AGL.

Approach is to be fully stabilized by 1000ft AAL, either using manual thrust or auto-thrust. If the approach becomes unstable at any point below 1000ft, a go-around must be flown.

In flight, both FD’s are to be selected on.

Page 10: Table of contents - Wizz Air Virtual · PDF fileTable of contents 1.General ... Wizz Air Virtual Airlines is based on the real-world Wizz Air which was ... - In case of turbulence

3.4 Flight proceduresBelow were described procedures which in other airlines can be different. All basic procedures (clearance for flight, push back, start up, taxi, takeoff, cruise, descent, taxi to the gate/stand) have not been described because they are the same as those on VATSIM/IVAO.

Departure with de-icingThe flaps extension, trim settings and flight control check should take place after de-icing.

De-icing before engine startPilot have to report to ATC message like this: ‘Callsign, at stand/gate number, requesting de-icing before engine start’

De-icing after engine start:A lot of airports have their areas for de-icing. This areas are published on charts. Pilot have to report to ATC message like this: ‘Callsign, ready for taxi with de-icing procedure’. In this case pilot receive from ATC clearance for taxi to de-icing area.

Descent in uncontrolled airspace (uncontrolled airspace isn’t unicom)ATC will inform when pilot will be entering in uncontrolled airspace. In case of flight in uncontrolled airspace speed is limited to: - 250 kts above FL 100;

- 220 kts below FL 100.

Climb in uncontrolled airspace (uncontrolled airspace isn’t unicom)ATC will inform when pilot will be entering in uncontrolled airspace. In case of flight in uncontrolled airspace speed is limited to: -220 kts below FL 100;

-250 kts above FL 100.

Seatbelts sign procedure after takeoff Above FL100, the pilot should consider, according to weather conditions, seat-belts sign OFF. However in busy and complex airspaces, switching off the seatbelt sign may be delayed.

Cost index In WizzVA we use the following cost index: Climb – 0 Cruise – 15 Descent – 15

Page 11: Table of contents - Wizz Air Virtual · PDF fileTable of contents 1.General ... Wizz Air Virtual Airlines is based on the real-world Wizz Air which was ... - In case of turbulence

3.5 Flight procedures

General procedures - QNH should be set as soon as clearance to an altitude is received. - Landing lights and seatbelts sign shall be switched ON below FL100/10000ft.

- Taxi (not Takeoff) light is used for landing.

Cruise - Monitor weather for destination, destination alternates and en-route alternates

Turbulence guideline:- In case of turbulence only likely to affect passenger safety and comfort, the Captain have to switch ON the seatbelts sign.

Approach briefing The approach briefing contents: - Aircraft and NOTAMs, review;

- Weather, safety altitudes/terrain considerations, transition level (if known);

- STAR or expected routing and constraints;

- Intermediate altitude – consider early configuration;

- Approach, including altitude restrictions or checks, speed profiles and aids;

- FAF and glide path angle;

- MDA / DA / DH;

- Go-Around procedure;

- Landing config, autobrake and reverse;

- Taxi pattern, if known;

Speed during descent and initial approachIAS is normally to be restricted to 250 kts or less below FL100 (primarily to ensure reduced rates of descent). It can be maintained above 250 kts (max 300 kts) below FL 100 with the following conditions: - Clearance received from ATC;

- No turbulence

- strictly limited to 250 kts below:

- 5000 ft or minimum sector altitude + 2000 ft, which ever is higher.
