“ IAMHE,THE ONEWHOISSPEAKINGWITHYOU”

At noon I was talking with the Samaritan woman. The hour of grace rang for her and she said to me at the well of Jacob: I know there is a Messiah coming, and I said: I who speak to you am he. Her heart was enlightened with grace and through my humanity she recognized my divinity and adored it filled with love and hope.

I am also the one who speaks to you today. I have looked for you to the point of exhaustion in the highways and byways of the world. It is your Jesus, who comes close to you in this consecrated Host. I am he who comes to ask, as I asked the Samaritan woman, to give me to drink a little of the water of your contrition and your tears to quench my thirst. Your Jesus asks for this small alms. Will you deny it?

If you would only recognize the gift of God! If you could understand my predilection for you. If you were only able to comprehend the infinite love with which I follow you everywhere. If you could see my fervent desire to do you good. If you could see with your eyes the mountain of graces that I have bought with my blood and that hang over you, longing for you to open your heart to receive them. If you would only appreciate my cross, the secrets that it hides and the delights that God has reserved for the moment that you embrace them with love. If you could understand who it is who says to you: Give me to drink. Listen! Hear! This is the hour of your salvation. I am the one who speaks, who wants to pardon you, who comes to you with all the tenderness of your Savior. Come! I am here!

Fr. Christian has invited us to detach from the TV, internet, video games and Facebook. However, if you didn’t choose to “unplug” the TV, please consider choosing Formed.org for Lenten programs and ongoing faith programs—avoid all secular programming, news, sports and use your television viewing only for faith and spiritual development. And if you did unplug—why not use Formed.org to watch Joseph of Nazareth on Sunday!

Formed Pick of the Week: Joseph of Nazareth As Joseph is informed by God’s messengers about trusting and following his plan, this film presents beautiful vignettes of these and other powerful scenes in the life of Christ and the Holy Family that are authentic and inspiring.

SEVENSISTERSAPOSTOLATE

Dear ladies, are you being pulled toward doing something simple, hidden, yet powerful to strengthen the Church — the Church in our families, parishes, dioceses and country? Please read the Seven Sisters site (sevensistersapostolate.org) and consider joining us. Last month we completed our first year here at St. John's, praying for our dear pastor Fr. Christian. Although  there are nine ladies in the parish in this ministry, it would be such a blessing for more to join us! Also, there is a need for the formation of a Seven Sisters group for Fr. Kauth, rector of our  diocesan seminary. For more information, call Patricia Glass at 828-206-9544.

To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our afflictions, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also. Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God’s Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection, so that supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven. Amen. — Pope Leo XIII, 1839
