First Friday Mass and Devotions

Mass every First Friday of the month at 7pm. Holy Hour immediately following the Mass. Confessions 6:00pm to 7:00pm and during adoration.

Sacrament of the Sick & Communion Calls

First Friday visitation by the priest or a lay person. Please contact the office for further details or to arrange a visit. If you require the visit of a priest, please contact the office to provide us with details.

Funerals Please contact the Funeral Home of your choice first. They will contact the parish office to make church arrangements. Remember Catholic Cemeteries when making your arrangements.

Devotions to St. Jude Every Wednesday after the 8:00am and 7:00pm masses and privately in St. Jude’s Chapel every day.

Confessions The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available Saturdays at 4:15pm; First Friday at 6:00pm and during adoration after 7pm Mass; Third Friday of the month at 6:30pm and after the Healing mass and other times by appointment.

Sacrament of Baptism Contact the parish at least three months before the desired date of baptism. After contacting the office you will have a group interview with the pastor to discuss requirements, sacramental preparation and any other concerns you may have. Please consider starting the process during the pregnancy which will make the attendance to prep-class easier.

First Communion & Confirmation Program

Parents are asked to contact the office for information. Our programs begin in the fall (September or October) and end with the reception of the sacraments. To pre-register for next year’s program, please call the parish office in June so that your child is included in our list. Orientation will be given during the Summer months.

R.C.I.A. and R.C.I.C. Programs The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and for Children (RCIC) has now been implemented. Please contact the office to register and arrange to fill out an application for next year. The RCIA will only take place if a minimum of 5 people register.

Adult Confirmation Parishioners who have not made their First Communion and Confirmation and are now 18 years old and up are invited to sign up for our next adult Confirmation Class at the parish office. Proof of baptism is necessary for this program.

Sacrament of Matrimony Couples contemplating marriage at St. Jude’s parish are required to make contact with the parish office and review the marriage package before an interview with the priest. Diocesan regulation demands that marriages are booked one year in advance minimum.

MASS INTENTIONS My brothers and sisters, on Ash Wednesday Jesus invited us to meditate on three things Giving, Praying, and Fasting. This weekend when we celebrate the Transfiguration of the Lord, let us meditate on Almsgiving. “When you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, so that your almsgiving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you”. Mt 6-4. Almsgiving has to be an essential part of our Lenten activities. Some of us may think of almsgiving as charity and it is. We need to be attentive to helping those in need. In help-ing them, we are helping Jesus Himself, by making the needs of others our very own. Solidarity, or being compassionate to those who suffer in any way, especially those who have lost a loved one, that is a good example of how to practice charity. Other forms may include social work, especially with the poor and elderly, who are continually experiencing the desert of misfortune in this life. Look around and you will see that there are many forms of helping the needy. "He loved us, and gave himself up for us."

My dear brothers and sisters I wanted to take a moment to thank you once again for your help on my Installation Mass. Bishop Boissonneau was impressed to see the whole congregation participating and how well organized it was. Thanks to the lec-tors, the music, choir, ushers and all of you for your support, your presence, and all the food that you brought, it was fantastic and delicious. Thank you for demonstrating grace, love and patience. THANK YOU for being my family and making my Instal-lation Mass one of the most beautiful mo-ments of my life. God bless you.

Feasting & Fasting

Lent can be more than a time of fasting; it can be a season of feasting. We can use Lent to fast from cer-tain things and to feast on others.

Lent is a season in which we can:

Fast from words that pollute; feast on phrases that purify. Fast from discontent; feast on gratitude. Fast from anger; feast on patience. Fast from pessimism; feast on optimism. Fast from worry;

feast on divine order. Fast from complaining; feast on appreciation. Fast from negatives; feast on affirmatives. Fast from unrelenting pressures; feast on unceasing prayer. Fast from hostility; feast on non-resistance. Fast from bitterness; feast on for-giveness. Fast from self-concern; feast on compassion.

as they serve. ¨ Arrive 20 minutes before

the mass and proceed to the sacristy.

¨ Tell a server that you are in training and they will do the rest.

The child should be accompanied by a parent the first couple of Sundays when arriving to the Sacristy and help them find the right of altar servers gown and surplice.

Income tax receipts are ready and they will be handed out before and after all weekend masses. We ask that you make an effort

to pick them up and help us save on post-age. You can also pick them up at the of-fice throughout the week during office hours.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:

We will not give out receipts for third

parties, including family members.

These are sensitive and confidential doc-

uments and only the people whose name

is on the receipt can receive them, even

if more than one person contributes un-

der the same envelope. A fee for ac-

counting services will be charged to

those who request a second copy once

it has been given out. Last year a sig-

nificant number of people lost them or

after asking someone else to pick them

up they could not find them. Processing

a tax-receipt requires the work of an ac-

countant which incurs accountant ser-

vices that should be covered by those

who request a second copy. Perhaps

this will help those who constantly lose

them each year.
