MASS INTENTIONS Jesus desires to give us his healing touch in order to loosen our tongues so that he may speak to the spiritually hungry through us. He invites us to give him our hearts so that he may touch the lives of people in our day through us, just as he touched the lives of millions. Jesus’ compassionate touch will help us to hear the cries of the poor and the sick. It will teach us to show kindness, mercy and consideration to others. His healing touch will also help us convey peace and hope to those around us.

(Weekday Masses) We invite all the lectors who proclaim the Scriptures at Weekday masses (Monday-Friday) to attend a second meet-ing on Thursday, September

Mass of Dedication and Recognition Postponed October 20, 2015 at 7:30pm

Given that many of our parishioners who are away during the Summer and have not become aware of this celebration and in order to give everyone more time to plan, our celebration has been postponed to take place in the context of our Parish Feast in October when we celebrate our patron Saint Jude. The new and final date is Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7:30pm. This mass is about recognizing those who made a sacrificial five year pledge as well as those who contrib-uted with commemorative items such as the Restoration of the Stain Glass Windows and other items that are not as visible but foun-dational to our parish. We invite the entir e community to join together and join me in expressing our gratitude for the difference

made by those who responded so generously and sacrificially for our com-munity. Following the mass we will join in our Parish Hall to celebrate.

Pray for Vocations

Did not God choose those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the Kingdom? Count your blessings, then come and help others count theirs too, as a priest, religious or deacon. If you feel you have such

a vocation, call Fr. Chris Lemieux at: 416-968-0997 [email protected]

Pilgrimages at Teopoli, "City Of God"

English dates: September 20, October 18. Italian dates: October 4. The star t time for all dates is 9:30 a.m. For more infor-mation, contact the Società Unita Office at 416-243-7319 or [email protected].

Not Married in the Church There are many misconceptions today regarding the validity of civil marriages for those who are Catholic. Regardless of the reasons why you are not validly mar-ried in the church it

is important to know how that affects you as a Catholic. We would like to in-vite anyone who is in this situation or knows someone who is, to attend a series of talks in which we will discuss mar-riage in the Catholic Church. Other top-ics will include: annulment procedures,

divorce, separation, intermarriages, etc. We will discuss all this in a non-judgmental environment with the hope that we can help you understand and grow as a couple. Our First Meeting will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10am.

Planning to become a teacher in the Catholic Schools?

It is critical for you to know that to be hired to teach in any Catholic School Board in Ontario as part of your applica-tion for employment there must be a let-ter of reference from your pastor. If you are planning to apply to teach in a Cath-olic School, contacting the pastor before Thanksgiving is highly recommended. Please plan to have a conversation with your pastor early in the process (not the week before you are submitting your application) and you will avoid disap-pointment and stress at the time when applications are to be submitted. The following are required by all those re-questing a pastoral reference:

You are a registered member of the parish using offertory envelopes for at least a year prior to the request.

You participate at Sunday/Saturday mass in our parish for a minimum of one year prior to the request.

You are involved in some way at our par-ish.

Make your request 3 months prior to the

submission of your application.

You are the one making the request per-sonally. No request will be accepted by any third party, which includes a relative or a parent.

The pastor has to be able to recommend you and that can only happen if he knows you at the basic level of regular mass attendance. Personal knowledge of the candidate’s faith practice is what the pastor needs to recom-mend.

Sacrament

of Confirmation Many of the students starting grades 7 and 8 have been PRE-REGISTERED but the number of students who have not is greater than expected. We urge those

who are now in grade 8 and are planning to receive this Sacrament this year to move quickly and avoid being post-poned to next year. All grade 8 students will be prepared in the fall and confirmed at the end of November. All grade 7 students will be prepared starting January and confirmed in May of 2016. This year the transition to move this Sacrament to grade 7 will require everyone to respond promptly. If you attend St. Jude’s or St. Simon’s Schools, we ask that you attend one of the Orientation Sessions on the following dates and times even if you have not pre-registed.

Saturday, September 12 at 10am Sunday, September 13 at 7pm

Thursday, September 17 at 7:30pm Friday, September 18 at 7:30pm

Sunday, September 20 at 1:30pm (Spanish only)

First Communion Pre-registration Parents are invited to pre-register as soon as possible. Dates and times for Orientations will be published in our bulletin and also emailed to those who have pre-registered and provid-ed us with an email address. Information sent to the school does not always make it home since it is entrusted to children. Ideally, parents should be attending Sunday mass and read this information in our bulletin which is our primary means of communication.

Questions for Reflection:

Do you give the same respect to people who have money and prestige as you do to those who do not?

“Did not God choose those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith ?”

How do todays readings make you feel about the poverty in your life?

I am interested in joining the focus group

that will help organize the Consecration

to our Lady project.

(please submit to the parish office)
