What is SWAGZ?

SWAGZ is a holistic lifestyle mentorship program, that works to improve the quality of life for young women.

Program StructureLucky #7 Wellness Program

1. Spiritual-Energy: Diggin Deep: Life class We will use Oprah’s Life Class as a model to discover

our true selves by understanding & focusing on the values we hold for ourselves and how to apply them to life.

1.Ex: Meditation, Contemplation, lantern metaphor, Personal experiences

Physical Body: Get it right, get it tight We will work with with community partners and

research fun physical ways for youth to stay fit and activate. Demonstration videos will be submitted to the online magazine.

Ex: Zumba, Wii Fit, Yoga, dance, cooking, water aerobics, etc.

3. Mental/Emotional- Personality: Advance your SwagWe will use the book “Advance Your Swagger” to cultivate our best selves by using manners, confidence and style to get ahead”! Also using media icons as inspiration.

Ex:, Etiquette dinner, fashion show, Spoken word, Alter ego, affirmations…

4. Social: Keeping it real We will practice personal responsibility by taking responsibility for

our actions, accepting the consequences that come from those actions and understanding that what we do impacts those around us. Being honest with ourselves will allow us to be real with others and constantly reflect our true selves.

4.Ex: Roll plays, hypothetical situations, Personal stories, vocabulary, Service Learning…

Environmental: Go GreenWe will work with Madison environmental groups, learning tips on how to be environmentally responsible, in a way that we can incorporate in our everyday life. Each time we learn a new tip it will be a regular part of our program.

Ex. RRR, energy light bulbs, composting, gardens, water bottles…

6. Occupational: Entrepreneurship We will work with community partners to learn valuable

skills by producing content for SWAG online magazine. We will also work with L&S Career services to provide career counseling.

Ex. Marketing, Networking, Mock Interviews, Resume Building …

6. Educational/Intellectual-soul: Dream BigLooking towards the future by exploring college,

careers and beginning to envision and move toward the life they desire to live

Ex. Wellness challenge, Campus engagment, Networking, dream boards, goal setting …

Back StoryBeing a young, black, feisty 23 year old

graduate from UW-Madison, I found myself unhappy with my current Job situation. Seeing no light at the end of the tunnel, I quit in spontaneous frustration.

Using my setback as a setup for a comeback, I decided to dedicate every moment of my life developing myself for the better, doing what feels right and achieving my goals and dreams.

….. It just so happened that what I loved was

cultivating and empowering others to do the same!
