ment (CIPD), commissioned by theNational Apprenticeship Service.While some apprenticeship

programmes, such as those in avia-tion operations, costume design,plumbing and music business, at-tracted 40 or more applications pervacancy last year, others were lesspopular with candidates, accordingto analysis of the online applica-tions received via the NAS website.

some apprenticeship vacanciesgo unfilled. To overcome thesemismatches, the report outlines anumber of recommendations forlearning providers, employers andapprenticeship candidates, includ-ing:l Learning providers and

employers should adopt youth-friendly recruitment practices.This involves ensuring that advertsfor vacancies are clear and freeof jargon, providing feedback tounsuccessful candidates, and alsoconsidering those candidates forsimilar or future positions.l Employers and learning pro-

viders could do more to raise theprofile of app renticeships and gainparents buy-in and engagement.Young people and their parentsneed clearer information on the

pay and career prospects of ap-prenticeships to challenge commonmisconceptions about the sorts ofprofessions they cover and encour-age candidates to apply for jobsthat fit them best. Wl Learningproviders should also seek to buildand highlight the long-term busi-ness benefits of apprenticeshipswhen working with employers andnot mis-sell them as a source ofcheap labour.lApprenticeship candidates

Katerina Rdiger, head of skillsand policy campaigns at the CIPD,said: Via the CIPDs Learning toWork programme, we know thatmany employers recognise theneed to bring more young peopleinto their organisation and areincreasingly using apprenticeshipsas a way to do this.

However, some employersmay be wondering why their aprogrammes are not attractingenough, or the right, applicants.Working closely with apprentice-ship learning providers during therecruitment process is vital. Somerecruitment practices such as

lengthy and unclear jobtions and workplace jarcreate a barrier and detpeople from applying. Isponsibility of both proemployers to ensure recpractices are youth-frieensure they get the righfor the va cancy.

full time Telesales executive, working 37.5 hours per week.

The RoleWorking towards an individual sales target you will be expected to be

resourceful and self motivated. Sourcing and canvassing new clients tointroduce to our portfolio and in-turn being proactive and creative in finding

solutions to their advertising and marketing needs. This will run in sync with

the ongoing management of existing, established clients, ensuring they are

receiving the best possible value from our product portfolio. You will also beexpected to share best practices and new ideas with your peers within the

Telesales team with a view to formation of new marketing solutions for our

clients.

The Person

As a Telesales Executive you will need to be self motivated and driventowards achieving revenue targets. Confidence in working under your own

initiative is essential, although there will be occasions that you are required

to work on team projects.

Time management is key to this role, along with being able to adhere to

rigid deadlines. Previous sales and/or customer service experience could beadvantageous, although this is not an essential requirement as a comprehensive

training programme is in place. A good telephone manner coupled with

ability to communicate clearly and concisely is fundamental to this role.

The Package
