  • CURTAIN WALL GLAZING

    A curtain wall system is an outer covering of a building

    in which the outer walls are non-structural, but merely

    keep out the weather. As the curtain wall is non-structural

    it can be made of a lightweight material reducing

    construction costs. When glass is used as the curtain

    wall, a great advantage is that natural light can penetrate

    deeper within the building. The curtain wall faade does

    not carry any dead load weight from the building other

    than its own dead load weight. The wall transfers

    horizontal wind loads that are incident upon it to the main

    building structure through connections at floors or

    columns of the building. A curtain wall is designed to

    resist air and water infiltration, sway induced by wind and

    seismic forces acting on the building, and its own dead

    load weight forces.

    Curtain Wall Systems are typically designed with

    extruded aluminium members, although the first curtain

    walls were made of steel. The aluminium frame is

    typically infilled with glass, which provides an

    architecturally pleasing building, as well as benefits such

    as day lighting. However, parameters related to solar gain

    control such as thermal comfort and visual comfort are

    more difficult to control when using highly-glazed curtain

    walls. Other common infill include: stone veneer, metal

    panels, louvers, and operable windows or vents.

    Curtain walls differ from store-front systems in that they

    are designed to span multiple floors, and take into

    consideration design requirements such as: thermal

    expansion and contraction; building sway and movement;

    water diversion; and thermal efficiency for cost-effective

    heating, cooling, and lighting in the building.

  • SEMI UNITIZED STRUCTURAL GLAZING

    Structural Glazing: Four Side Silicone:

    This provides for a smooth facade with no

    visible divisions on the outer surface. Each

    panel is glued with structural silicone to the

    base frame in a unique attachment process.

    This is suspended by means of mechanical

    support at every transom. Our Glazing

    System performs well against sound, heat,

    air and water. Properly installed, the system

    provides a leak-free performance by never

    allowing water or air to enter the system

    Structural Glazing: Two Side Pressure

    Plate:

    This is a combination of the conventional

    aluminium cover profile on two opposite

    sides of the glass panel with frameless

    structural portions of glazing. These profiles

    are available in many off-the-shelf shapes

    as well as in custom-made mode to provide

    better appearance for each elevation. Each

    glass panel is glued with structural silicone

    to the base frame in a unique process. This

    is suspended by means of mechanical

    support at every transom.

  • SUSPEDED GLAZING / TENSION ROD

    The Tension Rod Glass Faade System is

    backed with suspended point fixed glass

    with high tension stainless steel vertical rod

    trusses as wind bracing. The tension rod

    system utilises two pre-stressed catenaries

    that carry inward and outward wind loading.

    Loads are transferred from the glass

    through countersunk screws to compression

    struts. The dead load of the glass is carried

    by the top hung vertical tension rods

    connected to the point fixed castings. The

    truss junctions consist of a combination of

    machined and cast components.

    The trusses are tensioned between the

    concrete floor slab and the steel roof

    structure. The system pretension loading

    and sizing of the tension rod is determined

    from the thermal load, dead load, creep,

    seismic loading and wind loading conditions

    specific to the supporting structure.
