So please support your club and preferably aend all three weekend events, or two …. or even one!

On Saturday night we have the Corvee Dinner. At $39/person you get a 2-course meal, with drinks available

at bar prices, a live band, dancing, and a chance to bid on Corvee Memorabilia in our Charity Aucon. This will be a fun night, so lock in the date and get ready to book your ckets. Your friends are welcome, so feel free to organise a table of six or even eight. Or just bring yourselves

and meet up with some old friends – or make some new ones.

On Sunday we'll aend the Torquay Motor Show. This is a great event and our area will be set up with club gazebos and signs. We are hoping to have a big Corvee aendance – last year we had about twenty cars and received plenty of aenon.

I look forward to seeing you at the December meeng,

Hello Veers,

I feel very honoured to have been elected club president at the AGM in October. I have big shoes to fill (literally!) in succeeding our inaugural president, Wayne (Ollie) Oliver. We all thank Ollie for his great leadership through the inial years of the club and he leaves it in great shape. I'm also pleased Ollie accepted the role of vice-president, so he can 'hold my hand' for a while.

By the me you receive this it will be Summer. And Summer means it's me to bring the Vee out of hibernaon. I think the most enjoyable way to enjoy your car is to cruise in the company of other Vees - and to enjoy the friendship that grows between fellow owners. We have quite a few events coming up over Summer and we'll keep you well informed. But of course, the big one is our own event “Cruizin'

ththe Surfcoast” over the weekend of 9 th

& 10 February 2019.

If there is one club event you aend this summer, it should be this one!

There are three parts to the weekend. Firstly, on Saturday, a cruise down the Great Ocean Road to Lorne where the Club is providing a BBQ lunch. What beer drive can you do in a Corvee than cruising down the Great Ocean Road with a convoy of Corvees? I think this is just about as good as it gets!

For any further informaon, call Mark on 0413 387977, or Ollie on 0427 527237.

Sunday morning we head to the Torquay Motor Show.

This is one of the most enjoyable events on the show circuit over the summer months. The show aracts all types of classic, collectable and performance cars which are showcased in an idyllic seng on the Torquay main beach foreshore. The show is extremely well aended by the public, mainly due to the fact it is sll the summer holiday season on the Surf Coast and the town is buzzing. It is always nice to have a large number of admirers for our cars and the Corvees certainly draw more than their fair share of aenon.

Those staying at hotels/motels in Geelong can check in and take a rest before the night's acvies at the Peninsula Hotel. We have suggested staying at the Peninsula Hotel's motel units as an easy way to get to the Corvee Dinner. The hotel has an area where cars can be washed right outside the motel units, and we’ll provide some buckets and sponges (bring any special cleaning gear you need).

We will all meet just outside Torquay around 8am so we can enter the show together. Those staying at the Peninsula will be rounded up by one of our club members who will lead the way to Torquay.

While we would like everyone to aend all the Coffee, Cruise, Dinner and Car Show events, don't let this stop you from aending any one of the events alone. We parcularly want people to aend the Car Show to help put on a great show for the holiday makers.

Again, we want all vising clubs to bring their club gazebos, signs and banners. Club or other Corvee shirts and gear is also encouraged. The organisers have include a Corvee Category in the judging, providing a trophy for “Best Corvee”.

We’ve put a hold on all 10 motel units, which have been discounted to $90/night for us. You need to get in quick though as these clean and neat, country style motel units will be booked quickly at the price. Just call the Peninsula Hotel on (03)52482606 and say you are with the Corvee group, menoning the discount price. The evening event will take place in the funcon room at the hotel. We have lined up a 2 course meal along with entertainment, dancing and a charity aucon, proceeds of which will go to the Torquay Rotary Club (who run the Torquay Car Show). This promises to be a great night out for everyone. We encourage people from other clubs to bring their banners to put on display at the event. Friends are also welcome. The cost of the dinner is $32/person, but bookings will need to be made with the club at least 2 weeks before the event.

Be sure to bring your chairs to the show as it will be a social event. Hot water will be available for tea and coffee. Food is readily available at the show and it is

only a short walk across the road to cafes and shops - or byo food and drinks.

other's cars and have the day's events spelled out in more detail. The cruise will start around 10am when we will leave in convoy for a cruise down the picturesque Great Ocean Road. · Detailed appearance of the car

What we don't know:· Exact release and beginning of sales dates

What we think we know:

· Entry level engines will be 6.2 naturally aspirated and/or 4.2 twin turbo

· MY2020 vehicle

· V8 engine

What we know:

· General shape of carThere is no informaon available from GM except that the car will be a MY2020 product, which means it will be on sale in the later part of 2019 – next year. We can therefore expect there will be a press release early in the new year, revealing the specificaons, the exact ming and an unveiling of the car, finally revealing its appearance. Most experts believe the unveiling will happen at the Detroit Motor show in mid-January, 2019.Although it has not been confirmed by GM, it is widely known that the C8 will be a mid-engine car, meaning the engine will sit behind the driver, but forward of the rear wheels. Photos of the test cars in their camouflage show a typical mid-engine shape. The shape of the front of the car verifies there is no room to package an engine up front. The test cars are now wearing minimal camouflage, so the arst impressions are now very close to correct.

· Exact engine line up

e are all eagerly awaing the press Wrelease for the next model Corvee, the C8.

· One or more models of the car will be named the “Zora”

There were plenty of cars we would like to have brought

home, but what with the low value of the Aussie dollar, shipping and other import costs, it seemed to be beer to look for a good one here! We did however buy a few parts for our cars and we all came home with our bags a lile ghter packed.

In August this year, eight members of the Surfcoast Corvees Club, plus two from Corvees of Melbourne, travelled to the USA to

experience the world's biggest Corvee gathering - "Corvees at Carlisle".

The aached photos say it best of all. If you want more, there are endless videos on YouTube and photos on Google images showing the fun of the event.

The show featured over 5,000 Corvees, trade stands, cars for sale, driving events, seminars and a grand parade. The best part of all was meeng up with so many fellow Corvee owners from all over the world and talking about our passion. Corvees at Carlisle is certainly an essenal item for the

bucket list....

We all agreed that the C7 grows on you the more you see it … and we certainly saw plenty of them! The colour combinaons are really good on the C7s with their 2-tone interiors and custom coloured brake calipers. And the exhaust growl from a ZR1 under power is certainly music to the ears!

Maria & Rob, Jenny & Stuart, and Bey & Mark from our club, plus Cheryl & Tony from Corvees of Melbourne toured Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York before heading to Carlisle, Pennsylvania where they joined up with Tracy & Glenn for the big event.

For our first instalment on Member's Rides, what is more appropriate than taking a look at our President's magnificent C2 converble.

The one he really wanted was a C2 converble. But they had already become quite expensive, so Peter decided to start with a more affordable C3. He purchased a 1977 yellow C3 Targa Top – note the colour reflected the one he first rode in!

When the me came that Peter decided he could afford his C2 he started searching, eventually finding a car in Queensland that fied his requirements. Aer travelling

to view the car at GM Down Under on Bribie Island, the mission was complete.

Peter loves taking the car on club runs and displaying the car at shows. He is always up for a cruise, but the one thing he insists upon – the top must be down …….. yeah!

Peter also decided to make the cooling system bullet-proof by fing a new radiator and water pump. The car was bought to cruise, so the

cooling had to be spot-on.

Peter’s car was treated to a full detail from paint & detailing expert and club member, Gary Davis. The appearance was really improved, but Peter

decided the car just didn't sit quite right. While the stance was correct for the era of the car, it was begging to sit lower. To fix this, tyres were replaced with lower profile red-lined units and to complete the transformaon, they were mounted on a set of alloy knock-off wheels. Now we're talking! Then, to really complete the look of the car, Peter fied a set of side-pipes which always look and sound great.

Peter recalls his first encounter with a Corvee was back when he was 18 years old. He and a friend were in Swan Hill for the day when they came

across a 1968 yellow converble Corvee which boasted a 427 cubic inch big block. Aer spending some me admiring the car the owner offered them a ride. The three of them managed to cram into the car with Peter's friend somehow awkwardly jammed in behind the seats. From that me onward, Peter wanted to own a Corvee.

Peter’s car is white with a black interior. It is a matching

number, very original '66 Converble with 327/L79 engine rated at 350HP. The transmission is a manual close-rao Muncie and the rear-end is fied with the 3.08:1 rao. The car runs and steers very impressively and is a pleasure to drive.

This car did nicely for a while as it looked good and went hard. However, the C2 was always on his mind.

MEREDITH CAR SHOW & FAMILY DAY

MEREDITH CAR SHOW & FAMILY DAY

thn Sunday 18 November, we all met at the OBatesford Roadhouse at 8:30am for a 9:00am departure for the Meredith Car Show. We had a

few coffees and a chat by the roadside and waited right unl 9:00am for the stragglers. We ended up with about 7 cars in our group.

Then we headed off for a relavely short run to the show and arrived early in the day so that we were able to get a good central posion. Although the show was adversed for pre 1980s cars only, a large percentage of the cars were more recent than the 80s. Good to remember for next year if you are worried about turning up with a

newer car.

Altogether, an enjoyable day out.

There was great weather, plenty of food available, a rockabilly band and a few memorabilia goodies to buy. We only saw one other Vee outside our group but there were plenty of other interesng cars to look at.

It was a beauful sunny day and we were sorry we hadn't gone to the trouble of bringing our gazebo to give us a bit of shade. Always a lile difficult to carry in the Vee if two are on board, but I'm sure we could have managed. We’ll remember that for the next show!
