Programme summaryScience in Industry Research Centre (SIRC) supports companies in the West Midlands to develop new science-based products.

• Eligibleapplicantsbenefitfrominitialfully-fundedsupporttorefinetheirproductconceptanditsdevelopmentrequirements(typicallyaminimumof12hours’supportfromSIRCspecialiststaff).

• Forbusinesseswithaninnovativeproductofhighpotential, additional support can be provided by specialist academic,technicalandresearchstaffattheUniversityofWolverhamptonintheformof:

- intellectual property (IP) review and guidance - IP grants- scientificresearch- new product design and prototyping - laboratory testing.

• SIRCisnowopenforapplicationsandisexpectedto closeearly2022.

Business assistSIRCconsultantswillcompletetheinitialworkagreedonbehalfofyourbusiness.Ourconsultant’sworkisfully-funded,andgrantsupportmaybeavailabletowardsthecostsofIPRfiling.

Research collaborationsBusinessesundertakingscientificprojectswithhighpotential will have the opportunity to enter into a SIRC researchcollaboration,enablingagreaterscaleofresearchandinnovationsupport.Afinancialcontributionwillberequiredfromyourbusinessatthisstage.

• Scientistsfromthesedisciplinesarebeingsupportedthrough SIRC to direct and supervise interdisciplinary research programmes.

• Regional SME companies are supported to engage as partners in collaborative research.

• Totransferthenewresearchandknowledgeintothebusiness community, publications and case studies will be disseminated.

• Businesses can attend SIRC events in order to learn more about the research being completed, as well as updatesonprogressandfindings.
