2011 Lutheran Singles Association For Single Adults: A weekend of food, fellowship, & fun! Lutherans Singles Association is holding their biennial Conference at Camp CILCA, Cantrall, IL (near Springfield) June 9 – 12, 2011. The theme this time is: “Ships of Life” and the keynote speaker is Rev. Joseph Cunningham. St James School News

PREK 3 AND PREK 4 “SNEAK PEAK” – This coming Tuesday, May 17th is a chance to visit our

prekindergarten classrooms to see our school in action during a regular school day. Come join us any

time between 9:00am and 11:00am to learn about our programs. St. James offers three Pre-K 3

morning programs: 2 day, 3 day or 5 day. Our Pre-K 4 has a 5 day program. NEW FOR 2011-2012:

Choose morning or afternoon in Pre-K 4. We have them both! We also have Extended Care for both

ages. Spread the word!!!

ENROLLMENT FOR 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR continues for Pre-K 3 year-old through 8th grade. Please

consider St. James for a quality Christ-centered education for your children. The principal, Mr.

Landskroener, would be happy to answer any questions you may have about our school from both new

and current families. He may be reached in the school office at 222-8267.

CARDINAL GAME – The Praise Be to Jesus Singers at St. James still have a few tickets available for the

Thursday, August 11th Cardinal game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The game starts at 7:15pm. The

ALUMNI DINNER – The First St. James Lutheran School alumni dinner will be held at the Lutheran

Church of St. John Saturday, June 4th at 6:00pm. This dinner is for everyone (not only alumni) who want

to have a great evening of Christian fellowship. Reservations are now being taken. Ticket prices are $25

per person. Please contact Ginger Riggs (228-8458) or the school office for additional information.

TEACHER NEEDED – We are looking for a part-time (afternoon) 4th grade teacher for the 2011-2012

Iron-Ons: Once you have registered, if you would like a Big Jungle Adventure iron-on, you

can pick those up in the Sunday School office starting May 15th. Instructions will be included

as to how to apply it to a t-shirt.

VBS Requested Items

For snacks… Kids make and eat snacks that reinforce the Bible story. There will be a sign up sheet on the table in the narthex for donation of items for our snacks.

THANK YOU to those who have already signed up to donate items for snacks!

For any one still wanting to help out - We are still in need of MINI Bagels. Please see the sheet for quantities.

For decorating… Updated List

IT’S A JUNGLE OUT THERE... We are looking for items to help in our decorations for the Big Jungle Adventure VBS. We would like to borrow the following:

• LARGE BROWN CANVAS TARP (at least 10 ft x 12 ft) • Jungle Animals (monkeys, lions, giraffes – oh my!) We need a few for our stage area.

Please label your animal. • Artificial greenery plants . (Ferns, lots of green. Nothing with too many flowers,

please.)

o Any and all sizes.

o Please use a piece of masking tape to LABEL the bottom of your plant.

o You may start bringing plants to the church lounge in May.

We will also accept any donations of artificial vines or greenery.

We are also in search of the following items:

• Large pieces of outdoor green carpeting • Large pieces of brown packing paper (if it's crinkled - that is OK!!) • Large (& medium) pieces of cardboard

You may leave items either in the church lounge, or outside of the Sunday School office.

Thank you for helping support the ministry to not only the

ORLC kids, but also children who may not have a “home

church,” and those who have yet to hear the Gospel of

Jesus Christ!
